I recently saw "Me and You and Everyone We Know" - I liked it so much I want to see it again.

On my viewing pleasure to-do list:

  • March of the Penguins (my nephew didn't want to go with me because I told him there were no evil penguins in it)
  • Kontroll
  • Broken Flowers (Bill Murray)
  • Saint Ralph - boy wants to run Boston Marathon; perfect pick for this marathon neophyte!
  • Must Like Dogs

Does anyone else think that Bill Murray is a treasure? I have loved his performances during these last 10 or so years - Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaum's, Lost in Translation, Life Aquatic. I loved his earlier wacky stuff but I am really appreciating his more subtle performances.

Yes. Absolutely. I love his work in Wes Anderson's films, and Lost in Translation is probably the sweetest, most meloncholy movie I've ever seen.

Must Love Dogs was cute. I love John Cusack!! All his movies are good.

There are tons of jokes/references that apply to divorced and newly single women getting into dating.

Have ya seen Mr. and Mrs. Smith? Sure the action scenes are great and all, and who doesn't like looking at Angelina Jolie (and I hear the ladies like the Brad Pitt), but the scenes in front of the marriage counselor are hilarious.

No, but I did want to see it before the whole homewrecker thing. I don't know if I want to anymore. She is one hot homewrecker though.

Just saw Motorcycle Diaries. Great movie.

Bill Murray came into a restaurant I worked in once - he was really nice, funny, patient with us all gawking at him. Cool guy all around.

Hijacking my own thread: While standing at the grocery checkout line last night, I noticed about five or six magazines with flattering cover photos of Jennifer Aniston and a few other magazine covers with unflattering photos of Jolie - one even started the "she's too thin/eating disorder" angle. Looks like the PR tide has turned on Jolie.

Ya know, I actually had no desire to see this movie (well, some desire, but that is sated by watching the "Boots" video), until I found out it was directed by Jay Chandrasekhar of "Super Troopers" fame. Now I'm intrigued.

Pleasant surprise at the cineplex:  I took my kids to see "Sky High", expecting it to be rather lame and uninteresting. I actually ended up enjoying it as much as the kids did. It is lighthearted and campy (how many superheoro movies have you seen that take themselves too seriously?) There were some good performances by the supporting cast. It has very much the feel of "Breakfast Club" or "Pretty in Pink" mixed with "The Incredibles" - right down to the 80's-inspired soundtrack.

Lost in Translation was fantastic! A great vehicle for Murray.

I travel internationally a great deal and have stayed at the hotel in Tokyo where the film takes place. I've had conversations with others who travel like I do and we all agreed that the film reflects the emotional and physical effects of jetlag better than any other.

There is nothing like sitting in a hotel lobby bar in SE Asia at 2:00 am watching some really bad karaoke!

I remember seeing Murray in "The Razor's Edge" and "Where the Buffalo Roam" years ago and thinking..."This guy is one heck of a dramatic actor."

Jolie is overrated, IMO. Anniston is much prettier, and seems to be a nicer person. For fu#$s sake, Angelina had sex with BILLY BOB THRONTON! . ON PURPOSE! REPEATEDLY! That's wrong on so many levels. I don't car how many 3rd worlders she adopts... she is 100% pure skank.

Oh now...she's not THAT bad. But then, I admit that I find Billy Bob sexy in a wierd way...

I've always thought of her being sortof a modern-day Ava Gardener - gorgeous rebel, tough broad, bombshell, etc.

But, although I've always liked her for her wacky, twisted, independant streak, I just can't get with this thing with the Brad. Don't know why it bothers me or why I should care? Just hate them together in the same way Ben and JLo were dispicable together.
hate hate hate

Besides, Aniston is so loveable. He's an idiot.

Yup, seen just one of those movies - Girl, Interrupted. She's not one of those actors about whom I think "Oh, I've got to see their next film whatever it is."

Anyone seen American Psycho- about the excess of the 80's? Granted, I was still in elementary/middle school in the 80's, but I thought it was hilarious. Plus Christian Bale is smokin'!

Oh! That's exactly where I had planned to see it. I'm a card-carrying member. I had hoped to see ET there this past Sunday but we went to Busch Gardens instead (augh!). I still toying with the idea of seeing Grease!
