Good luck to everyone competing in this event.

This will be my 2nd triathlon (I did Lakeside give it a tri - 2 weeks ago)

 Hoping for a better swim!

I see you swam in Lake Conestogo.   How is that for swimming?    We bought a pass for Guelph Lake which also gets us into Conestogo.

Best of luck in your race on Saturday!

I am planning on doing Guelph Olympic this weekend. Is it still a mass start?

Thanks,

Geoff

I'm racing the Oly distance as well....as far as I know there will be waves at the start, but I've never done this race before...  Good luck!

I'm doing my first Oly distance and although I am not 100% sure, it will most likely be the usual age group waves.   Fortunately, I'm in the last group.   Cool

But wasn't last year a mass start? I know for sure that 2007 was a mass start.

I did it in 2007 and it was a mass start, which actually helped with congestion and passing issues on the bike.

Lake Conestogo was pretty good to swim in. Temperature wasn't a problem with the wetsuit, but a little cloudy and dark.

Really hope this weather improves!!!

Thanks.    We hope to try it out sometime soon.

Good luck on Saturday!    You never know what the weather will be until race day.   If it's light rain you will be fine.    Cool

They are now calling for 20mm of rain on Saturday (I am doing the Sprint Distance race). Having made it through two seasons with relatively good weather for my races - I guess it was about time that I got handed the rainy race. Still not a big fan though.

Good luck to all competing!

That should be fun.looks like a definite rain day..80% probability.

Has anyone raced in the rain before? any tips. I'm thinking I'll have to keep my transition area dry..i don't think wet socks would be fun to try to get on.

Good luck this weekend everyone!

Just a tip: You might wanna bring some garbage bags to set up your transition area on and keep it covered.  My first tri was on a wet day and the transition area turned into a muddy swamp! (Niagara)

I'm doing the sprint and am pretty excited to have a better race than Lakeside! Whoo whoo rain! Not!

I read somewhere that it's a good idea to keep your running shoes in a rubbermaid container so that they stay somewhat dry, and sunglasses with clear or lighter coloured lenses to see (rain in the eyes would suck a bit!)

Let's cross our fingers for a non-rainy day!

Garbage bags work well for covering.  I have raced in wet conditions before and the only thing I don't  like is the bike portion in the rain.  Safety is #1.  So many racers and with rain is dangerous.  Either way - rain or sun - hope everyone exceeds their goals and especially HAS FUN.    Swimming and running in the rain is great!  No worries there!  PS  The weather could still change......I have hope!

I'm doing the oly as well.  Just came back from riding the bike course and checking the race site out and despite still being afflicted by an undetermined respiratory illness (respiratory airways disease is a pretty vague term), I might do better than I originally thought if I focus on the process and not the outcome.

Not sure which swim cap I'll be wearing: GreenBaby Blue or Purple???

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

Eeekkk! That’s no good. Although I just checked the hourly and it has again changed to light rain. I guess it will be a mixed bag tomorrow and we will see what mother nature comes up with! Well at least we will all be in the same boat tomorrow. For those racing on Sunday it’s now supposed to be blazing hot! I don’t know which one is worse!

Oh well, what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger!

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

I'm praying that the weather changes.  This is my first race and I had really gotten over my nerves in the last couple of weeks but now I'm freaked out again.  I hate riding in the rain and I've never ridden in a crowd in the rain!  Oh well - I'll try and make the best of it.  Good luck everyone!
