Subject: RE: Georgia Veterans Triathlon : Official ThreadCotton mouth, coral, copper head and rattle snake. I have had encounters with all but the coral snake in Ga. Coral snakes are very timid and rare and often mistake for --I think--King snakes. Bands are different. I just avoid both since I don't remember the distinction. I have never seen a rattle snake in metro area but I did almost step on one hiking in North Georgia. I see copper heads frequently out at the Big Creek Grn way. Once when I was running and the kids were riding my son toldme "Mommy I just ran over an orange snake." Upon further discussion I figured it must have been a copper head and then we had to have the discussion about avoiding snakes. Cotton mouths I've seen less frequently. But I have seen them here and in south GA. Edited by NatNegativeSplit 2009-08-05 3:43 PM
