Subject: Past Races (Repeat)
Not sure if this has been asked before  but I wanted to give it a try. I tend to repeat races from one year to the next and I prefer to link each race instead of creating a new race listing. I have had an issue where a race I have done is marked with "you are scheduled to race" even though the race is done and I am on to the next year. For instance....I am doing the NYC Marathon but I am not able to select the old race. Note that I dont file race reports and simply like tagging races I am interested in/doing. Hopefully this makes sense...I dont see why we should have to create new races listings for races that already have plenty of race reports attached to them already.

Sample..................

The first New York City Marathon, in 1970, was four-plus laps of Central Park. In 1976, in celebration of the U.S. bicentennial, NYRR moved the marathon to the streets of New York's five boroughs: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. The course united dozens of culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhoods, crossed five bridges, and finished at Tavern on the Green in world-famous Central Park. The course continues to challenge thousands of athletes every year and has become a model for big-city marathon courses around the world.
You are scheduled to race!

If you find the race on the upcoming calendar (Go to the Races button on top, search for the race) and select the upcoming version, it does link the years together.

So, here's the link for the 2011 NYC Marathon:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/directory/link-detail.asp?linkid=38616

Use that page and click the "Add Race to your log" link.

Then, when the race is in your log, you can click on the "Race Details" link and see all of the old race reports, etc.

Occasionally future races are not yet in the race database and you'd have to start a new page for it.  If you cannot find the race, then you'll have to do that.    When doing this for an existing race, you will get a chance to select the race based on prior years and it all gets linked together.  You just have to pay attention to the options.

I updated the 2010 link to 2011

http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/directory/link-detail.asp?linkid=2530

We prefer everyone to use an existing link if there is one, and not create a new one as we will eventually have to merge the duplicates.

We are making more of an effort to update races more timely this year and to cleanup the listings of duplicates.  When you choose and race that may not have current date information, even if you tag it, it goes to the top of our 'que' to update the date.
