I figured to try to start the least controversial thread I could think of (even though I'm sure someone will find a way to twist it).

With all the remakes going on, is there one you would like to see? For some odd reason, I thought a new and maybe darker version of Gremlins? Couldn't be worse than a Dirty Dancing, Fright Night, or Total Recall remake.

Gremlins? You mean that movie that started the war on Christmas? The whole thing takes place on Christmas, and there is that whole subplot of how her dad died in the chimney. Why do you hate America, you godless heathen?

I went for a run and thought The Black Hole would be good. I think it appropriate since that's where this thread is heading.

Gizmo?  Clearly a poorly-veiled reference to Gitmo...Oh, so now camera flashes are considered torture?  Don't get me started, I've read enough!

Prly... I was thinking 80's or early 90's at the latest.A more book accurate version of Running Man? Lost Boys?

I thought there was a remake of The Lost Boys already in the works. Didn't Kid Rock redo the theme song?

Okay... 80's...

How about Weird Science? Or License to Drive? Silent Running (I know, before the 80's)?

Funny, I watched John Carter a few weeks ago, and all through it I kept thinking "this story is familiar..." I read that book a LONG time ago.

Speaking of which, I think they could do a great series of movies of the first Thomas Covenant trilogy...

But the new Total Recall has women WAAYYYY hotter than in the original!!

I think a really good version of The Black Hole could be good; the original Disney movie wasn't very good by contemporary standards. I'm still waiting to see the new Red Dawn, when it's finally released (straight to DVD?)

No NO NOOOO, do NOT mess with Weird Science. This is Sacrilege, I sob for the very fear of them touching that fantastic wonderful awesomeness called Weird Science.

I would like to see a remake of Titanic, you know one with accurate dress, social status and perhaps something that actually resembled what happened that night...

Don't forget Footloose.  Worst remake I've ever seen.  Still blame the wife for making me see that one.

I think it's been established with Spiderman now that you only have to wait 10 years. I vote Robocop. I loved that movie as a kid.

Who could play David Bowie's role though?

Seriously. I can't see any one being able to pull that off without being very creepy.

Lady Gaga - she is essentially the female version of a glam-rock style. Looks, at any rate.

It would need to use the same soundtrack. If you change that soundtrack, you might as well just do a different story.

I wonder if she can act?  Madonna could play an older creepy person as well as act and sing but I think Gaga would be a better fit.
