I absolutely love being around my niece, nephew, and friends kids.  I think they are amazing to be with, but not for me.  I can't even think about wanting kids.  Well, I have nothing to worry about, I'm not seeing anyone.  YAY!

Those are the days that really make you appreciate the days when they are angels.

My fiance & I are friends with a few couples with young (just over 1yr) kids that we get to see a couple times/week. That definitely is enought to take care of any bug to have kids anytime soon. We love to play with them, but its great to be able to hand them back at the end of the night and go home to the dog.

I knew someone that had 3 boys under 5 years old! She would call me up and say "Need another dose of birth control? We need to go to dinner tomorrow." And I would go, they were cute but terrible!! It really works.

I say get some duct tape. Or get them to start TRI training. When my son (2 yrs old) starts to get a little wild, we go for a swim, bike or run. Then he's too tired to be out of control.

You have to be careful with that technique.  They could end up being stronger than you and outlast you.

I wouldn't worry about the outlasting, but beating your times!

We have five....I never wanted any kids until I was like 24...didn't really like them. Something happened and I changed....it to could happen to you. But some kids are brats and I don't like them either.

About beating my time...Emily (she is 11) and I finshed our first sprint we did together 4 seconds apart..how weird was that? Place next to each other...she ran my bike time and I ran her bike time...I only beat her on transitions.

I gotta train hard otherwise she'll be beating me every race we do. Maybe next I can keep her at bay...probably not.

My 6 years of lifeguarding have pretty much made me celibate.

No. Seriously.

And now I work in the children's furniture department at Ikea...and this reaffirms above decision.

God bless you mums out there, Lord knows you're stronger than I am.

hee-hee, my sisters call my children their birth control.  If only I had had an older sibling with kids when I needed one, sigh.  That's ok though, I love my little boogers.

I had a similar experience this weekend. I spent it at the beach with my sisters and their four kids. I dont see them very often so Uncle Lee is a novelty. I kept trying to sneak off to swim laps...about 100 yards into it i would have a 6 YO on my back. It was fun, but i was beat yesterday. Hats off to all of the parents out there.

My son is currently screaming a lot for attention (18 mos). However....you get used to all th3e ruckus and noisiness after a while, or at least your tolerance goes up. And you get stories like this!-->

About two weeks ago, I was grilling chicken on the porch. My wife came home and my son ran up to her and gave her a hug on her leg. She asked:
"What's for dinner?"
"Chick-eeennnnnnnnn!" I said like our Sonic comercial down here.
"Chick chicky chiken" My wife said.
"Chick-AWNNNNNN!" I said.
My son, Nicholas laughed and ran in a circle. He started saying,
"Chicken! Chicken! Chicken! Hee hee! Chicken!" He only has six or seven words right now and most are for Dad, Mom etc. So it was a big word for him. Now about half the time I say "Chick-AWN!" he'll say "chicken!"

I have to add my thoughts here. Before and leading up to the birth of my daughter, I heard a lot of people who seemed to almost revel in telling us how bad it was going to be, how hard, how expensive, you name it, people told us about the screaming, unreasonable behavior and life changing aspects of raising children.

Neither I or my ex wife listened and actually got pissed at all the folks who constantly wanted to gain some measure of worth by spelling out our doom....

8 years later, I can tell you that none of it was true. She is well behaved, goes to bed when she's told to, doesn't lie, scream or steal or bully. She slept through the night almost immediately after coming home to the point where my ex would actually wake her up to feed her. Yes, our lives changed, but it was unnoticed, much in the same way you don't notice growing. It was natural and beautiful. Nothing is perfect, but don't believe the hype about kids and their relationship or potential relationship with you. Badly behaved kids are usually the result of bad parenting, not themselves.

 Kids are not inherently obnoxious.

I don't "do" kids in the first place, but all I have to do is look at my family genetics for some good birth control.

My mother was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 18. She also has arthretis, osteoperosis, celiac disease (gluten intollerance), thyroid disease, and much more.
My nephew was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 9 months.
My uncle is severely mentally handicapped.
My other uncle is borderline "slow"
My other nephew (who is 2) shows signs of Autism and is in heavy therapy.
My grandfather is diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
My sister had gestational Diabetes in both pregnancies and is diagnosed with Pre-Type 1 Diabetes.
I am diagnosed with celiac disease (gluten intollerance)
Grandparents have had brain cancer, breast cancer and skin cancer (not all that uncommon, I know)

I just listed every single person in my family, except my dad (I have no aunts or cousins). So the probability of me having a child with a severe problem is pretty good. I'd rather not.

wow, if you didn't already think poorly behaved kids were already birth control....after reading this you would definately think so.

I love kids, but don't particularly want any of my own.

Its just got to be your thing. If you're not into kids of your own, even the smallest inconvenience can be considered birth control....  Just my $.02

Would you want kids otherwise?
