Spartacus Vengance Starts

I LOVE this series.  But I'm also a freak when it comes to roman history and greek mythology.  History was my minor and I spent all in roman history classes.  So I pretty much don't miss any of the roman period piece series that come on.

Anyway, I'm a little disappointed with how it's started out.  I know it's the set up episode, that sets the framework for the series, but I'm not diggin it.  I don't think I've really bought in to this new guy yet.  He's not the same spartacus as where it left off.

First episode just aired...

The first one was a little slow...  Or something.  Not quite feeling it.  Maybe because it spent a lot of time "catching us up" with what happened.  Flash backs and such.

So it airs on Fridays?

I recorded it from my on demand.  Strange thing is I watched it two weeks ago.  It looked like they showed the episode 1 again?????  Both me and my mother in law are big fans and were anxiously awaiting the second episode this week, so last night we're looking at each other with great confusion when I played the DVR'd version.  It was the first episode again.  I guess they did like a "sneak peak" or something.  That's the best I can figure out.  I think we're back on schedule now.

They've only shown one episode right?

Slow motion graphic violence with blood splattering onto the screen? CHECK

Nudity & soft porn type sex?  CHECK

Preview of guy getting his entire face sliced off in a future episode? CHECK!

This is one of my favorite shows. I have high hopes for this new season.

Season 3.  This season (Vengeance) picks up from where Season 1 (Blood and Sand) left off.  Season 2 (Gods of the arena) is the Prequel to Season 1.  So in order of Chronological timeline with respect to the events in the show and not their release dates it goes:

Season 1

Season 3

I believe Starz had a contract with Netflix when Seasons 1 and 2 first aired. That is where I watched the first two seasons anyway.

If I understand it right, the contract was not renewed and while Season 1 is still available on Netflix, Season 2 is no longer there and Season 3 will not be available.

I've been wondering how I was going to catch Season 3. I noticed last night that Hulu+ has a two month free trial, maybe I'll have to give that a try.

 He was sold to another camp. I hope we see him and I thought I saw a glimpse him in the little preview of the upcoming episodes at the end of the season premier.

It's not on Hulu+, all they have is some cartoon version of Blood and Sand.  The only place to get season 3 (which Starz is technically calling season 2 since they labeled season 2 a prequel...ridiculous) online is at starz.com, which you can only do if you're a Starz subscriber.  It's a shame, Viva Bianca is so hot. 

Thanks, as it turns out my cable was out and when I called ATT to get it fixed, the rep offered me 6 months of free Starz and Showtime out of the blue. Good timing on that I guess. Watched episode 1 via Starz On Demand last night.

Appa, I think you are right, I thought I saw him flash by (had to look up his name, Gannicus) in the preview they played after episode 1.

Not so ridiculous, really. The star of season 1 was very ill (and died recently), so in his absence, and in hope that he would be able to return, they continued the series in a prequel. Very noble, actually, rather than re-casting the role.

I get what you're saying, but if you have a season of a show, then follow it up with another season of the same show using the same title and set in the same world, then that becomes the second season.  If Starz didn't want the prequel to be considered season 2, then they should have declared it a spinoff and changed the name to the House of Batiatus or something.  Ask most people what season just started and they're going to say 3, but google season 3 and you get information on a season that hasn't started shooting yet.  In my opinion, Starz made it unnecessarily confusing.

I think last night was the best episode season so far.
