i could just copy and paste my facebook feed and this thread would be full.  one girl said "first a hurricane that causes unheard of devestation and then osama obama gets re-elected.  yes it's the apocalypse."

sigh.

this girl is a mental health professional.

I know you are doing this thread in jest, but I'll be serious for a minute.

I'm not sure if I am unhappy, shocked, dismayed, scared etc... over the results of the local Illinois elections.

Jesse Jackson Jr was re-elected by 70%.  He has been on medical leave, for bipolar treatment, since June and has not spoken to his constituents once (other than a robo call) during that time.  Not to mention he has this little FBI investigation hanging over him with the whole trying to buy the open Illinois Senate seat that was vacated in 2008 by President Obama.  The thing that one of our ex-governors is now in federal prison for the next 14 years for orchestrating.  Word on the street is the Fed's are waiting for him to be released from the Mayo clinic before grabbing him.

A Illinois state house representative was also overwhelming re-elected after he was kicked out of the Illinois house after he was arrested by the FBI for accepting multiple bribes and has a trial pending.

It is sickening to see how people vote in this state.  All they look at is the party they represent, not the person behind it or the issues.  Both of these guys had a democrat running as an independent as well as a Repub running against them.  There were other options.

They see a D or an R and pull the lever.  That's the only way to explain how Charlie Rangel is still in office.

I had a bit of an election day hangover today.  I most certainly wasn't happy but I'm not running to the gun store to stock up on guns and bullets either.  OK, that actually sounds like a good idea in general, maybe I'll still do that.

OK, anyway.  I always thought in the back of my mind I wouldn't be too upset if Obama won reelection because of the way he stacked the deck with tax raises and the bad parts of ACA not hitting until after the election.  If Romney would have won and not been able to repeal the ACA it would get messy in a hurry.  I figure now Obama gets to take full credit for the good (and the bad) that comes out of ACA.

Nope, He will just blame Bush or the house repubs just like he has for the last four years and his supporters will continue to buy it.

It's never a bad idea to stock up on bullets and guns.  Regardless of who is in power.

X2. The sun rose yesterday and looks like it's coming up again this morning. My prediction is that it will continue to do so each day of the second Obama administration.

I would wait a couple of weeks.  Election results, some paranoia...  any excuse to price-hike.  (It's sort of like gas prices.)  After the 2008 election demand soared as did prices.  $.75 to make "a hole in a piece of paper" adds up.  After a while it died down and prices went back to normal.  I picked up 300 rounds of Federal S&W .40 for $58 a few weeks ago.  I see that the price is already up $10 a box.

Ammo perhaps.  Guns.  No.  Yesterday ARs were flying off the shelves.  It's going to be months and month before stocks replenish and prices settle back down.

A friend of mine sent me these quotes, which may have already appeared somewhere on BT.  I'm tempted to post them in the other thread but it wouldn't do any good.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.” Alexis de Tocqueville

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”   Adrian Rogers
