Who's watching today?

I can hardly walk after a hard ride yesterday so I am planning on spending the day watching football. My team, the 49ers, is off but at least we now know who we are playing next week. If the Saints continue to get the calls they have been getting it doesn't look good for us. If you can't breathe on a receiver then Brees will throw for 400 on us. The defenseless receiver call at the end of the first half against Detroit is the most asinine call of the season, even if it is technically correct.

Today's games should be good. I see a close game this morning and the fall of Tebow this afternoon.

I'll put the over / under for PIT-DEN at 11.

So far, a punter will win the game ball for Giants vs. Falcons.

Yep, without the help of the officials Brees would have only thrown for 5,900 yards this year instead of the 5,942 that he has. Cheating, no talent bastages! If only the paid, trained officials would call the plays with the acumen and wisdom of us fans at home.

Cool

Atlanta's insistience of going for 4th down has totally lost this game for them. I doubt the bear is displeased by this.

Whoever has the best chance of beating Green Bay is OK with me. Don't relish the thought of going to the frozen tundra to play should we escape Candlestick next week.

Yep, without the help of the officials Brees would have only thrown for 5,900 yards this year instead of the 6,000 that he has. Cheating, no talent bastages! If only the paid, trained officials would call the plays with the acumen and wisdom of us fans at home.

Cool

You forgot the part where I called him a no talent hack

Seriously though, can you watch that game last night and then say it was a well officiated game? Between the fumble, the questionable spots, the defenseless receiver call/TD catch that was overturned, and the fact that the Saints line played that entire game without a single holding or hands to the face call? I have no doubt that the Saints were the better team and would have won regardless, but the fumble call and the spots changed that game. 21-7 would have changed the way the rest of the game was played.

I am looking forward to the game next week though. The Saints are the hottest team in football coming in to the playoffs, but I think it is often overlooked that 9 of their last 10 games have been played indoors. Their only game outdoors was a 22-17 win over a Jake Locker quarterbacked Titans team. While they look almost unbeatable at home, they are just not the same team on grass. The early line is Saints by 3 but I would put it closer to a coin flip.

Green Bay is built like an indoor team. Speed, precision routes. No emphasis on running off tackle. I think it's actually an equalizer for whoever plays a bad weather game there.

All things considered, as Matt pointed out, we'd rather be playing indoors. At home. Against anyone but Green Bay.

Ike Taylor has had a nightmare game, though that last PI call was questionable at best.

I'm amazed at how well the Broncos offensive line is playing. Of course it helps that the Steelers are at the point where they are considering suiting up the towel boy.

John Fox is a fantastic coach. He's playing 7 offensive linemen and not asking tight ends to block outside linebackers. The OLB for Kansas City was what shut them down. His adjustment is brilliant.

I'm wearing Steelers T-shirt and Pajamas. I could ball.

I hate when officiating can affect the outcome of a game. That was a facemask and they should have a new set of downs instead of punting. Wouldn't surprise me if Ben marches down for a FG now.

Just stop it. The officials don't play the game. Ultra slo-mo after every play doesn't mean a bad call. Play better and quit-cha-bichin. I am SO tired of announcers and fans who watch replays and think the zebras are unfair.

That's funny cause I swear I could hear half the Bronco's screaming facemask while the play was still going. His head obviously jerked in a facemask motion. Luckily they still get OT to try and win it.

You could say the same thing about the PI call on Ike Taylor earlier in the game that led to points instead of a punt.

You're kind of caught up too much with how the refs are reffing and not how the players are playing. If a team wins by 17, it's not bad reffing, it's bad playing by the other team. Penalties are going to happen, it's how they overcome those penalties that show whether teams deserve to move on or not. Same with injuries.

There were 2 turnovers by Pittsburg that should have resulted in a Bronco's ball expect that the officials on the fields made the wrong call (one a "almost" TD, the other the backwards pass) and it could not be overturned.

Well, with my dolphins stuck in the cellar of mediocrity which seems like they have made a permanent home of, I’m really rooting for the Saints.  The 49ers will be a tough game; they play such a different style that to me the key will be who gets ahead first.  If the Saints make them play from behind early then the 49ers will be in trouble, but if the 49ers get an early turnover and get ahead early and can play their game it will put the Saints on tough spot….Funny thing about this game is that I have a high school classmate in each of this teams (Vilma, Gore)

I'm still in 7th Heaven from watching my Giants cook the birds!  It's nice to see their ground game finally start to come together.

Next comes playing the Pack at Lambo - probably the toughest thing in any sport this year.  Aaron Rogers and the Packers are like a machine.  But if anyone can do it, the Giants always seem to have this uncanny ability to step up and provide a good upset when needed.

It's going to be a complete slugfest. I was really hoping the Pack would not have to tangle with the Giants again. Looks like they're getting healthy and things are coming together for that team at just the right time.

That said, the Packers are the healthiest they've been in two years. They're rested and playing at an extremely high-level at home. And I know McCarthy will be motivated to get revenge for the last time the Giants came to Lambeau in the '07 NFC Championship, when a certain QB that shall remain nameless just literally threw the game away because he was old and cold.

Giants and Packers will be interesting. Packers O-line sucks and the Giants D-line is awesome. I think Eli will throw too many picks though.

listening to the talking heads yesterday and even they were commenting on the one sidedness of the officiating in the Saints game.  And we all know THEY can't be wrong!!!!  The only call that I thought was pure bologna was the whistled down fumble.  Other than that, they were all legitimate calls, they just seemed to focus on the lions.

on a separate note: Texans got their first playoff win!!!!!  YEAH BABY!!!!!!!  Nobody's giving us a chance in Hades in Baltimore.  Can't wait to see what happens.
