Subject: Swimming Finally/Race this Weekend The Woodlands So add my name to the list of people who stuck with the swim and finally had a breakthrough! After dedicating myself to the TI method, and building slowly, I actually swam 500 meters without stopping on Saturday! This is amazing because 1 ) To that point, the longest I had swum without stopping was 250 M; 2 ) I had done a set of 200-150-100-150-100-100 just over a week previous and it nearly killed me. The message is that if you are learning to swim, learn TI. If you are learning TI, stick to it and do the drills, drills, drills until they become effortless and boring, then do them some more each time you get in the pool.
Now, it's convenient that I was able to swim 500 M, because that is the length of the swim portion of my race this weekend at The Woodlands, Texas. The only difference is that I will be swimming with a couple hundred of my closest friends in open water. No biggie, right? Anyone else racing at The Woodlands this weekend? |
