Pre-race routine:

went over to where the 8 mile running opener was supposed to be, only to find it out it was YESTERDAY! went home and planned to run up to the lake, but at the last minute decided to check if there were any other races today and found this one.
Event warmup:

gathered our stuff back up and headed out! did the kids 1k race with ella, who won first in her age group (5 and under). fiona got 2nd (and wasn't dq'ed even though her papa carried her most of the way!).

i love small races like this. apart from increasing my chaces of winning something, its just nice to have a small, down to earth atmosphere. it was really a nice event. the girls had a wonderful time too.

Sounds like a nice run.  It's great that the kids like to do the races too!

I've never even heard of that race; I'll have to look for it next year since I like trail runs.

Too bad about the mix up with the running opener, but it came out ok in the end!
