Subject: RE: 6.12.18 Tuesday Training! Yes, hard to leave! I won't miss the heat or the traffic but....Lots of people here--colleagues, friends, former students that always stop to say hi and catch me up on their lives when I see them on campus, even just people in the neighborhood. Having the pool to myself most of the time. And being able to go out for a run pretty much any day of the year without having to think about what to wear (easy--camisole top, shorts. It's never "cold". ) And the food. I honestly am not sure I've ever had a bad meal in this country! Okay--maybe one lousy hotel breakfast, once. That was it.
I am more stressed about the cats than myself. They have to fly in cargo as no airline out of here takes them in cabin right now. More complicate than flying with babies. We picked up all their documentation yesterday--I think twelve pages of it!
Looking forward to summer in Idaho and having more time to train for a year, but lots of uncertainty about the future.... It is what it is.
Training-wise, I also got to "enjoy" a pretty intense trainer session for my last ride in Vietnam. Made more intense by the fact that I sold my two fans, and the AC hasn't really been working. The temps started at 81 (after an HOUR of pre-cooling the room ), went up to 88, and down to 78. And it was only about 90 outside. Arrrgh! |
