I guess the Pac-10 is better than the SEC afterall

Slow down there cowboy. I do expect to see the standings confirm that today. But you have to be a bit more realistic. The reason Pac-10 teams are doing so well right now is because they are feeding off the bottom of the conference. Want the worst the SEC has to offer, I give you Ole Miss, Vandy...and Arkansas. How confident would you feel about playing any of those?

The Pac-10 faithful always get excited this time a year. Well enjoy it because you good teams are about to play one another and no longer be in the top 10...a la the SEC each year.

Arizona State's next four games are Cal, Ore, UCLA & USC. They will lose at least 2
USC--I think people are jumping off the band wagon. Too many close calls to get the extra vote this year. ND could be ANOTHER tough game for them
Oregon--might be legit and seem to have the easiest road with USC & Az St at home
Cal--I expect them to drop out of the top 10. You get beat by at home by an unranked team?

Plus going into the weekend the Big East had 3 teams in the top 15 and another one undefeated and unranked.  I don't think many would make a case that the Big East is an elite football conference.  

Way to take a snapshot in time and use it to serve your point.  Where were you last week?

I've always been there for ASU. Although it moves them into first place, I'm disappointed that Cal and USC have losses.

And before you say that ASU hasn't played anyone yet, look at this..

They beat Colorado, who then beat Oklahoma

They beat Stanford, who then beat #1 USC

They beat Oregon State, who then beat #2 Cal

They are 7-0 and you can't take that away. The real test will be this next 4 game stretch. Very happy to have the bye this week before Cal though.

They beat a team who beat a team........  You can come up with all kinds of stuff with that kinda logic.

They beat 3 average to bad teams who played well and beat other teams.

They beat the teams they were supposed to beat (unlike those others - - USC should NEVER lose to Stanford in football).

There's still a lot of football to be played. Just having a little fun because my team is 7-0. I like what Erickson said about the Devils, "I don't know how good we are, but it's nice to be 7-0"  (I'm paraphrasing).

I'm just being bitter.  Don't mind me.

Last thing I'll say about this ...(probably not)

I'm a homer for ASU, but who is the person that gave them a #1 vote in the AP Poll?  C'mon -- even I don't think they deserve that.

Heck, I'd give A State a number 1 vote before I'd give it to LSU immediately following a loss to an unranked opponent.

Good thing someone as uninformed as you doesn't get a vote. Kentucky was 17th when they beat LSU.

To go back to your original post, if we use the AP Poll (BCS may differ) then my math has

SEC 3
Pac-10 2

Case closed

One other thing - - please do not call ASU by the moniker 'A State' . Arizona State or ASU will be fine. It grates on my nerves everytime the guy on Fox Sports says it.

I'd say the Pac 10 is about middle of the... pack. Average at best in my opinion.

SEC: 7 (4th is highest ranking)

Big 12: 5 (5th is highest ranking)

Pac: 10: 4 (8th is highest ranking)

Acc: 4 (3rd is highest ranking)

Big 10: 2 (1st is highest)

Just for more foder....I would actually put the Pac above the Big 12 based on the rankings of those teams in the poll.  For example, I wouldn't argue that a conference that has 5 teams all 20-25 is stronger than a conference with 3 in the top 10. 

Plus, you have to deduct any credit you'd give the Big 10 because they have 11 schools in the conference.  (Why is it still the Big 10? Granted, it does sound better than Big 11)

Purdue's season is already a success by beating ND.

I just wish someone would tell my Boilermakers that the football season lasts beyond September...

Well at least this BCS list confirms one thing -> The Big Ten is definitely having a down year.

Having said all of that, the schadenfreude of Notre Dame's implosion is almost too much pleasure for me to handle.
