I am number what??? I hate my race number...

hahaha!!! My school ID number at Scottsdale CHRISTIAN academy was 666, I was cursed.

Won't care what my number is as long as it isn't the one marked as DEAD LAST on the race results. 

funny you mention this because i'm allllll excited about getting my race number right up until after i get it and realize it's just an arbitrary number.

edit: I always secretly hope I get a palindrome number.  Like 1331 or something like that.

I also love the palindrome or numbers that have significance like 314 (pi) or 1406 (IM distance). Sometimes I hope that they decide to throw ? in there instead of the traditional natural numbers. (I'm such a nerd...)

There are only a few numbers that would bug me. I wouldn't want to be #1 because thats like wearing a target. I wouldn't want to be #13 because I need good luck not bad.

Eh, go with it. Come up with some good lines to throw back at people, laugh it off, and enjoy your race. Seriously, there's plenty to get uptight about, having a fun race number isn't it!

I had 1313 at the Longhorn HIM last year. When I went to pick up my packet, it wasn't there!!  So after a lot of running around and waiting, I was issued a new number 1356? 

I'd pay an extra $20 for 666

earlier this year I stayed in room 1313 on the 13th floor of a hotel on 13th street.  Pretty funny. 

Just remember you got Bill and Ted's favorite number.

What's even more fun is that you will have this number written all over your body in permanent ink.

Being #1 sucks even more.

I haven't been single in almost 20 years and I wouldn't mind having ol 69.  In fact I think it might be a little fun, my wife would probably think it was hillarious or say it was fitting.  

Anyway, I suppose I might not like the number 13, but it wouldn't bother me either.  I might have a better race just trying to prove that number on the belt couldn't hold me back.  

Anyway, this thread reminds me of a funny story at the last company I worked for.  The owner's are Chinese and supposedly they have some very specific meaning associated with numbers and number combos.  We moved the plant and had to get new phone numbers and went through several numbers before getting something that didn't mean "death", "bad luck", etc.  The funny part is the person who was tasked in getting the numbers changed not being Chinese and/or understanding this Chinese numerology.

Talking about race number 13. At the hotel I stay at before several races each year, I always seem to get room number 13. It always bugs the hell out of me the night before a race.

I was #1 once in a local race that numbered us base on estimated swim times for the 400M swim. I showed up at the last minute and heard so many comments about how 'we've been waiting for you...'. It was kind of funny, but not the kind of attention I want right before a race. Some people there assumed that I was the defending champion from last year and asked me about it. I just laughed it off.

Had a good race that time, though, I crossed the finish line 3rd, was 2nd in my AG and in the top 10 overall.

I was 69 at a race last year.  We were on vacation, and after the race stopped at a casino.  Yeah, lots of stares, and snickers there!  I just laughed with them, and explained a hundred times why I had 69 on my legs and arms!

I was born in 69, so I use the number for things like my gym locker, or at one of those picnics where you put your money down on a number.  I always get funny looks when I play that number over and over again until I'm out of my dimes or whatever.....I'll be cheering for you....go #69 :-)

My friend and I were cracking up that a lady at my last race was number 666.  Ummm, I would have either asked the RD for a different number or not shown up on race day, lol!
