I love triathlon. I've done one, and I'm clearly hooked. I spend my free time training or reading about training or thinking about training or talking about training. I signed up for Team in Training, so now I'm doing it for more than just myself.

But, I recently met someone special. And now I spend my free time thinking about this special someone. When I'm swimming, I can't focus on technique, only what I'm making for dinner. When I'm trying not to be bored on the stationary bike, I'm thinking of weekend plans.

I'm sure this feeling is temporary, but my goodness, I have a plan to stick to! I've managed to overcome a minor injury and stress at work to continue training, but this is threatening my progress!

Any other people out there lovestruck?

Easy answer to this dilemma.....convince this new love that they need to become a triathlete....then you can obsess together.

Yes, do it together. You don't want them to compete; what could be more fun than a permanent training partner?!!!!!

Sigh. Very few people get my crazy, I appreciate it when they do.

Congrats and good luck!!!

I'll steal a quote from someone else's sig line.

'The body can do almost anything, it's the mind you need to convince' (Vince Lombardi)

Do both.  The mind is capable of amazing things you can't even imagine.  Like love two things at once.  Just ask anyone with more than one kid.  Or Pat O'Brien.

Tri training is all about overcoming obstacles.  Overcome this one and reap the benefits.  Wink wink, nudge nudge!

To hell with 'progress'! You can train for the rest of your life, but the first wonderful throes of love are all too short. Enjoy it and when the relationship settles down you can get back to it.

Man, I wish someone were that lovestruck over me....that's freakin' awesome!!!!

I am sure the "honeymoon" phase will wear off soon and eventually you'll be able to start concentrating on other things in life. But for now, instead of focusing on her the entire time you're working out, focus on how the working out helps you in regards to your relationship - you'll get a sexier body, which I am sure the new love will love, and you'll have something the new love can be proud of you for...and you should be proud that you have someone to share in your goals and successes with.

Also, like others mentioned, you and the new love can try tri'ing together.

Good luck with the your two new loves - the girl and triathlons.
