Swim
Comments: This was my first competitive open water swim and it was awesome. It was a wade start with both men and women 'newbies' starting together. About 100 people in all. The gun went off and the washing machine started. Nothing too major just a little bumping and a few kicks. The funny thing was because we were all newbies everyone was saying "sorry" and "pardon me". After the first buoy things thinned out a bit and I was able to get into a rhythm. Loved my new wetsuit! Transition 1
Comments: Would like to improve my T1 time. I sat down to take off my wetsuit. What would you do differently?: Stand to take off wetsuit Bike
Comments: Overall a pretty good ride. I would have liked to have averaged around 17-18 mph on the bike, but this was a good guage of what I need to work on What would you do differently?: Push harder, I need to get more miles in on the bike Transition 2
Run
Comments: First mile was the toughest. Had to run/walk for a little while. Ran the rest at a slow pace What would you do differently?: Run faster! Just like the bike, this was a good indicator for what I need to improve on Post race
Warm down: Hugged my wife and carried my son around to chat with my friends and family who came to support me What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to run and bike more. Incorporate speed drills into my training Event comments: Great event. Last updated: 2004-06-15 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:00 AM. Had a bagel and diet coke.
What a super morning. Great weather, the flat irons in the background, a couple of hot air balloons lifting off and about 300 of your closest friends getting ready to jump into a lake.
Did a light swim. 60 degree water is mighty cold
