Subject: um, asteroid...or meteorite....

This is weird stuff.  They tell us about one asteroid that is going to miss the earth and then a meteorite smashes into Russia.  Guess if you can only find about  1 percent of the asteroids you are missing a whole bunch.  Here is hoping there is not another 98 coming.

Asteroids and meteorites are all brought on by global warming, God's wrath and Teletubbies. Or so I read somewhere.

I KNEW someone would figure out a way

http://www.voanews.com/content/asteroid-spin-intrigues-astronomers/...
...Michael Busch is a planetary astronomer at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in the southwestern U.S. state of New Mexico. ...
"One of the interesting things about DA14 is we expect its spin state will change as it flies by the Earth," said Busch. "The Earth's gravity will pull slightly more on one side of the asteroid than on the other, and that will change its spin."

  • See? It's Busch's fault!

They know where all the big ones are (that would exterminate life) but the little guys are too hard to project WHERE they will hit. So rather than cause global panic they don't say anything. The videos from all the dash-cams are awesome though - I would have crapped my pants probably.

I kept waiting for North Korea to lay claim to it and threaten the rest of the world with more of the like if sanctions were not lifted immediately.
