I'm in the 16-18 mph range and i hate it when people whizz past without even a chirp. On the other side, it's hard to yell "on your left" for an hour straight. And there are many times it's safer to just whizz past as an "on your left" call sometimes gets heads turning and bikes drifting. But, yes, try to be safe everybody. No need to take any crazy chances out there. And also, FWIW, I am aiming to PR my bike time. I intend to do well on the bike too, but I'll be yelling "On your left" for a bit more than an hour . I know there will be some hairy areas especially on the downhills and Black Rd in particular. I imagine people will drift left as it turns under the expressway, plus folks on their second loop may be slowing for transition. I guess that bring up a rules question; if the entire road is closed to any traffic other than race traffic, and it's one way bike traffic, is it still a penalty to cross the double yellow? There are a lot of places where that could apply. I'll have to ask at the expo. Neil loves answering those sorts of questions |
