Texas cheerleaders win in court again over Bible banners

I love it!

It does not mean that God is against the other team, it doesn't mean He will give this team some 'special powers' so they will necessarily win the game.

It is just an awesome encouraging word from the Bible for those who believe.

Think of it like if you are watching two of your kids play on opposing teams, it really doesn't matter who wins the game- you are still 'for' them.  

And it's a great feeling to know your Father is on your side, win or loose.

As a person who played HS football I would bet if you asked the cheerleaders away from the reporters the sign is to say god is for them.

Also as a person that played HS football, I would bet if you asked players or cheerleaders away from reporters that no one believes that GOD has a favorite high school football team.

I can't wait for the backlash when a verse from another "Holy Book" gets displayed at a Texas Football game.  Then everyone gets to go to court and be on the other side of the fence.

But I personally think they should be able to put pretty much anything on their 'signs'.

We are in Alabama and I have had 3 boys play football- we still pray (as a school) before games & the teams always pray after.....And we all know there is some good football in Alabama!!

You're kidding, right?

Your idea about "keeping religion out of schools" is wrong. 1A "...prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion..." So the court cases have come to the conclusion the school staff cannot originate religious speech unless it's within the lesson plan of a class. It goes on with "...abridging the freedom of speech,..." and this, along with the cannot impeded the free exercise of religion means the students (who are NOT government employees) have the right to make their banners within obscenity laws.

Yes it matters. The staff are considered "the government" so are severely restricted in being able to originate any religious discussion. The students still have wide latitude with freedom of speech.
