Scotch drinkers - suggestions please?

Master  2802    Minnetonka, Minnesota |  Subject: Scotch drinkers - suggestions please?I usually have a bottle of single malt on hand for the occasional nip and just finished my bottle of Ledaig last night. I am "working around the isle" and have tried many different scotches. Anyone have a favorite they'd like to recommend to me? |

I also suggest picking up a good book on different whisky tasting profiles. Finding out what you like will help you find which new bottles to try. |

I only tried is as we stayed for 2 nights on the isle of Mull and that is where Ledaig is distilled. They use the old Tobermory distillery and I still have the Tobermory scotch mini (empty now!) that was sitting on the nightstand in our room at the local B&B. 10 days in Scotland - best trip we have ever taken! |

I'm so jealous! I've been in perpetual planning mode for a trip to Scotland but keep putting it off. My wife says this year she'd be willing to go, so I'm getting excited about the idea. BTW: Buy in the last country before you come to the US. Schipol gave me a hard time about security and liquid limits b/c a bottle I bought in the UK. Even though it was security sealed, it wasn't Dutch security. I managed to check a bag at the gate and could get it home as checked baggage, but not carry on. Damn terrorists win again |

If you're not looking for an Islay, give Aberlour 12 or 16 a try. It's a Speyside and can't be beat for the price -- it's on par with The Macallan I'd say. |

For a single malt I'm a sucker for 18 year Glenfiddich Both are about $60 a bottle where I am but for how little I drink, well worth the cash. Blends are still Scotch, and some are very good! |
