This year has been extremely frustrating for me due to nagging little injuries that I am still working at overcoming so I can have better years to come! The latest is some pinpoint knee pain I have been getting while cycling. Never had it before while riding my current bike. First showed up riding a rented tri-bike part of the way through a 50 mile ride. Rested it, then showed back up in a race 2 weeks later on my bike. Rested it again and came back last night on short, easy ride on my bike. The pain in on the inside part of my left knee (about 2 o'clock looking down at the knee) and is a pinpoint pain, hurts when I press on it. Doesn't hurt while running, goes away within a day after biking. What give? Thoughts/suggestions? Anyone else have a similar issue? Thanks.

John

It could have been caused by the rented bike not fitting properly.

Rest, ice, massage, stretching may all help as will a visit to a specialist.

That is pretty much what I thought, but surprised it re-occurred after some time off. I'll increase my stretching and rest - maybe just trainer rides for a bit- and see if that helps before I go see a doctor! Seen enough of them this year! Thanks!

It happened to me when my seat was too low.  Rest and ice and it should go away.

If it is below your kneecap to the inside its probab;y pes tendinitis.  That is where your medial hamstrings insert and that can get flared up if you bike seat was perhaps too low.  If it doen'st improve with ice, rest and NSAIDs get in with an orthopedistor a sport med person

Thanks Artemis and Socks, low seat was probably definitely what started it on the rented bike, it was low to begin with and I probably didn't raise it enough. I'll do what all suggest and ice, rest, and stretch then start back slowly on my bike where I've never had a problem! Hope that does it! Thanks!
