Comments: Kept up with the woman who beat me last week for the most part. I've never beaten her, but this is the closest I've come. I faded in the last 1/2 mile and she beat me by only 7 seconds! What would you do differently?: Train. Between end-of-tri-season lack of motivation, foot injuries and 4 pounds weight gain (due to excuse #1), I'm not EXACTLY at my peak! Post race
Warm down: Light jogging, stretching, had some OJ and pancake breakfast at the expo area. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Event comments: I've done this race (the 1/2 mary of it) a few times in the past and it's a great course. Nice suburban area, traffic blocked off, etc. I couldn't have gone any faster if I tried. I'm out of shape, but for a 5K my speed is still there. The difference is that I'll be paying for it tomorrow! One more night of the Living Nativity and then maybe I'll catch up on my sleep! *Just finally got results on the internet today...overall women I was 10/173, overall male and female I was 47/376. Got gatorade/accelerade/amino vital drink mix and made a mug of coffee. Signed up for 5K on race day since I wasn't sure how my foot would behave. Was thinking of doing the 1/2 mary but my foot was bothering me again the past two days so I thought better of it.
Wasn't really in a racing frame of mind today. Haven't gotten much sleep the past few nights since I was up late working at my church's Living Nativity with the kids. Didn't even shave for the race! I felt like a gorilla (I know...TMI!)
Light jogging, stretching, barely any sprints...like I said, I wasn't in a racing frame of mind.
