Event warmup:

Jog for about 10 minutes, bike for about 10 minutes, swim for 5 minutes.
Swim
  • 15m 15s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Swim slightly more to the outside to not end up running into as many people. Was like driving at rush hour, go FAST, stop. Pile up behind you...
Transition 1
  • 02m 41s
Bike
  • 36m 42s
  • 12.2 miles
  • 19.95 mile/hr
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Run
  • 19m 27s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Nasty pain in my left side for the first 1.5-2 miles kept me from feeling like I was in good form. Went away and the last 1/3 of the race was much better.
Post race
Warm down:

Long walk, drinking lots of 'rade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mainly just the first part fo the run that I was all stitched up over.

Event comments:

My first tri. Very happy with it and had lots of fun. My goal was 1:20, my swim was much better than I expected. Now it makes it harder for me to see where to improve. :-)

Good job!

I will be racing at Webster on 8/1 in the Danskin Tri. It will be my first tri, and I have never been there, so I am unfamiliar with the course. Your description is VERY helpful. Thanks.

Thanks all...

No real hills on the run. The first mile has a gentle up in it which ends up being a nice downward slope for a good kick to the finishing area. The run is a loop, out for a mile, take a left, loop through a local little lakeside road (very slight up and down rollers) then return the way you came. The first and last mile parallels the end of the bike ride. My run felt really horrible for the first 1.5 -2 miles, but ended up being my fastest race 5K this year. I was only hoping to be near 20 minutes on my run... just goes to show that the way you feel may not have a direct correlation to how fast you are really going. So if it hurts keep pushing. :-)
