Hey Ironmen and Ironmen-to-be. I know it's early, but thought I'd kick this off with a post on lodging. I here it gets very hard/expensive to stay at LP on IM weekend. I just reserved a camping site at Meadowbrook campground (5 miles from LP village). You can't beat the cost. There's also a KOA at Whitemountain, about 2 miles further, but it may be a nicer site (I have no idea). I'm not particularly picky since I'll be camping solo, but these might be worth checking out. They sell out a good while before the race from what I understand. Happy training!

The KOA is a great site, stayed there this past race when I volunteered. Had I not found a place right on the lake I would be staying there.

Just wondering how training is going for all the 2014 IM LP racers?
Weather here in southwestern Ontario this Winter has been tough.

Thanks for the info. My sister and brother inlaw are looking for a camp site.

For the first time, we are having a week that isn't cold, although yesterday was poring rain. dare I hope this means spring is finally here? I have been watching LP weather - about the same as MN. over night lows in the 40s, day highs in the 50s or 60s. that water isn't going to be bath water temp.

Anyone know how much climbing there really is at IMLP. I went to mapmy ride and some courses showed ~4200ft and some ~7000+. I'm definitely not making it up there for a preride, so any info from vets would be appreciated.

Thanks

I showed about +/- 3300' for one lap both times I have ridden it...Both Gamin & Strava. That's a little less than the elevation profile of 6,898 on the IMLP site.

I have Bontrager Race Lite wheels. I was looking into renting Zipp 303's or 404's for race day for Ironman Lake Placid. What time will I save?

I am running Boston in April and Ironman Lake Placid is in July. I have been told that it is ambitious to think about doing an IM so close to a marathon due to the recovery time. Any suggestions?

Both the Lake Triathlon Shoe CX210TRI and the Lake Road Shoe CX225 offer distinct advantages. I tested both shoes and found them to be extremely comfortable, good looking and durable.
