This is ridiculous. I think Foxnews is a bunch of rightwing nutjobs, so I don't watch it. MSNBC is a bunch of leftwing nutjobs, so I don't watch it. Now the government is determined to tell them what they should and shouldn't be covering. I don't see how this ends in anything other than a 1st amendment lawsuit.

It's kind of funny.....now that the Federal Govt. is one of the largest, if not THE largest employer in our country, all of those folks are constantly looking for something to do to keep themselves relevent and keep their jobs secure.  Most of what they come up with are things they would protest over if it weren't their livlihood at stake.  It's not much different at the local level of govt.  It becomes very easy for govt. employees to forget that the stupid ideas they come up with affect them as private citizens.

This isn't the first time they've tried to limit who can say what to whom:

You realize that's an opinion piece? If you look at the details of what the FCC is planning to do, you'll notice that it's voluntary, and that they have done similar surveys in 2002 and 2007. Nobody is putting monitors in newsrooms.

Yes it may be "voluntary", but guess who issues the license. Opens the door to extort "voluntary" participation esp. in the smaller local markets. This is a bad idea ripe for abuse, esp. in light of the IRS abuses.
