![]() | ![]() I really dig my toyota FJ. I had been waiting for it to come out for a few years then last April when we saw one on the lot we went and got it right away. It is a great vehicle to get us all over the island. It definitely gets used in sketchy situations. It has been somewhat neglected lately as my training has taken up my play time. Anybody else have a car they really like? Here is a video I shot. The video quality is not so great but the area is awesome. The air feels so nice to breathe in. No refunds of the lost 5 minutes of your life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJHzIE5fAUY (fjgrayrd36.jpg) Attachments ---------------- fjgrayrd36.jpg (62KB - 23 downloads) |

![]() If you're not going to off road it though, would you still buy it? The FJ, that is. I think they look great, but I've read a number of reviews that were horrible. Consumer reports had pros as drivetrain and off road, cons as visibility, comfort, access... basically everything a city slicker like me likes. Closests I'd get to off road are some rutted dirt roads to go fishing in the Sierras |

Consumer reports had pros as drivetrain and off road, cons as visibility, comfort, access... basically everything a city slicker like me likes. Closests I'd get to off road are some rutted dirt roads to go fishing in the Sierras I really like the FJ, so it is a tough question. Visibility is not an issue if you are an alert driver. If you are lazy, then visibility is horrible. It definitely is something you have to pay attention to. I have no problem with accessibility, I like the suicide doors, but am used to two door vehicles. I don't have any issue getting my kids in and out. Others hate that style door. The interior is plastic and plain. In comparison to the wife's last Audi it is pathetic, compared to any number of compact rental cars I have used it is similar. I am comfortable in the front seats. You couldn't pay me to sit in the back for a long drive. The visibility back there is awful and there is no circulation due to no opening windows. I would not buy an FJ if I were looking for creature comforts. The interior space is okay at best. We do a monthly Costco trip and load it with stuff, so that is nice, but when we go camping for a week we can't see out the back. So to answer your questions, with no chance of going off road I would not buy an FJ. If I needed a vehicle to do weekend sports in that may take me on a crappy dirt road maybe. If I was going to buy another off road vehicle would I buy an FJ, absolutely. |

Of course, this is coming from someone who rebuilt an 86 Jeep CJ7. Love the old crawlers! |

It is a 1971 Westfalia Camper Bus ![]() The Pop Top is functional, I have all of the hammocks and best of all, it has a real 8-Track tape player with a great collection of music to go along with the bus. Great for surf trips to Mexico ![]() |

It is a 1971 Westfalia Camper Bus ![]() ![]() If you have an 8 track, it's a requirement to have some Cheech and Chong on tape. You have this don't you? If not, I have the tape, but in need of a player. Maybe this is because the only thing we ever listened to on 8 track was Cheech and Chong......"Dave's not here man!" |
![]() ![]() |
![]() Ahhh, 8 tracks. Abbey Road was the last one I saw laying around I've had a 1994 Pathfinder (loved it) and a 2003 Pathfinder, which, frankly, has given me a number of emission problems over the years. As much as I'd like to be rid of a car payment (only 11 more months), I am keeping my eye out for options. With that honest FJ review, I guess those are out, LOL. I really like my friend's 07 Ford Explorer Sporttrack, but gas mileage is $$$$$$$. And I've never bought a For. Toyota/Nissans all my life |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have the Honda Element. For me, it's perfect. I can haul the dogs ... the bike ... me ... my gear ... etc. It's a little spartan for a city slicker's tastes most likely, but for us country girls it's just about perfect. |

What a blast. I love that car! Eric's working on getting a receiver put on so we can attach the bike rack in time for this weekend's training/camping trip. Woot! |

Apparently, the tent we'll be using this weekend is the old one that attached to Eric's dad's old VW bus. It's a hoot. All 70s colors and stripes. But it's in excellent condition, and it's free. And HUGE. I'm going to call it our Pavilion. |

I am really curious as to what Toyota is going to do with this line. The production runs are really small and the price is outrageous. If I ever had to go to a real SUV, I don't know what I would buy. Hopefully the FJ will last me some time. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have a Toyota Highlander ~ Hybrid and I LOVE IT!!! 27 miles to the gallon, which isn't bad for a small sport utility vehicle. I've gotten in the 30's when I'm driving strictly in town. |

Honestly, the only reason I bought this one: hell no on a minivan, but needed the 3rd row seat. At the time (4 years ago) there wasn't anything affordable out there like that. And I have always desired one of these. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I love my Toyota Corolla, and it looks so cute with my bike sitting on top. The best is that when I go on long highway drives, I get 42 mpg. Unfortunately, my highway drive to work is bumper to bumper, stop and go, so typically I am getting 31-33 mpg. Not bad!
