Seriously?  There's no thread for this race yet?????

I just signed up.  I was planning on the aquabike but I might try to hobble through the run to get in under 8 hours and get my qualifying race done for Kona.

I've done this race twice and it's one of my favorites.  It was my very first triathlon EVER so it has lots of meaning to me!  I've been dying to come back for years....

BT says there are over 20 people signed up so I was really surprised there wasn't a thread yet.  It's only a few months away!

I'm gonna have to start adding the hilly route into my cross check...I've been riding mostly flats!

3rd shot at this distance and first in Lubbock.  Somehow I was convinced this was going to be great!  It's all part of the training for IMFL.  I'm in!

So, to train for a flat, humid, and often chilly course you thought you'd do a hilly, dry, and really hot course?

Kidding.  On the bright side after Lubbock you'll think the roads at IMFL are smoother than a baby's bum!

I did IMFL in 2010 and I lived about an hour from PCB for three years.  I am practically an expert on the course!  Let me knowi f you have questions!

Hills, heat, and wind....should be.

But WAY less humidity.

I've done BSL twice.  It's my favorite triathlon in the world!  I've been dying to come back, though I wanted to come back IN SHAPE!  So much for that!

Any shot this race will not be wetsuit legal?  With the warm winter and temps starting to scream...just wondering if the spring fed water ever has gone over wetsuit temps in the past?

I haven't seen the course since 2005.  But most of TX loves their chipseal...and at least back in 2005 it was used on much of the course.  As chipseal went it wasn't horrible chipseal though.  And you could ride in the tire tracks to minimize it.

Hopefully someone that's ridden it more recently will pipe up.

Hey locals...How's the weather and water temp lately and projected? I'm thinkin sleeveless or Torque skinsuit, and my arm coolers on the run.

Lubbockite here --- I doubt it will be as hot as last year (high on race day was 112).  From what I have heard, the water has always been wetsuit legal, though it was close to non-wetsuit last year.  I have debated using my TYR Torque swimskin but will probably go with the wetsuit.  I rode some of the bike course last night (plus the part of the run course that is outside the park) and it is in as good of shape as it has been in a long while (for chipseal, anyway).

I did the Oly a couple of weeks ago.  Water Temp 61 degrees at race time in the cove. It should warm up quite a bit by BSLT, but I also think it's always been wetsuit legal.

The roads are chip seal, but at least the part that the Oly covered they are fine.  The wind is much more of an issue than the road conditions.

To be honest, I love races that are NOT wetsuit legal...because I'm a good swimmer.

However, I don't have an outfit that I can swim in so wetsuit legal would make it logistically easier for me...I can wear my normal bike clothes under my full!

I'm just hoping for a fast (low wind) day.  I need to bike and swim as fast as possible so I can hobble/hop/walk my way to a Kona validator....

I am in,  this will be my 4 time for BSLT 70.3.  I have to do this to qualify my Kona lotto slot!  Just planning on using it as a long training day and play it safe to get the box checked for Kona.  It won't take much for me to PR for the course because I have never had a good race there!!!

You are coming from Boston to do this race??  Crazy!!  I will actually be in Boston for work from 6/19-6/21!  All I can tell you is that you are in for HEAT, WIND, and some short/steep hills on the bike and run!!  First climb is basically right when you exit T1!!

Can't wait to see you there!  There's a girl on here who is also validating her lottery spot.  No worries...I'll be behind you.  I'll be the one who has literally melted on the course, as I have been in the PacNW/Alaska for 4 weeks straight for work. Temps have not hit 60 the whole time. Well, the other way from not hitting 60...I know we're not hitting 60 in Austin, either, just the other side of the thermometer.  LOL

BETS!!!!!  I can't wait to see you, It has been too long.  Must be nice to train in cooler weather, at least until you have to race in the 90's!!  Where are you staying in Lubbock.  We are at some hotel near the Holiday Inn.

It will definitely be an experience. I like hills so bring on the hills though I do prefer longer and steadier vs. short and steep but it will be fun either way. Are you also racing?

I am "racing" or just trying to finish to validate my Kona lottery slot.  If I feel good on race day, I will push it but I am behind on my training and don't expect much.
