One of the local tri coaches has a swim clinic with video taping coming up.  She is an excellent coach and has improved many strokes in the area.

I'm currently debating taking the clinic.  The videotaping is optional but recommended.  There is a classroom session after the videotaping to go over your stroke.

Question - has anyone had their swim stroke videotaped in this type of setting?  Would you do it again?  Any other thoughts/comments?

Is it underwater video?  If so then I would absolutely get it done as what you learn will likely be well worth the cost of the session.

I have been videoed for the first time this season and had done 1500mTT's about three weeks before the session and about four weeks after the session.  My pre video 1500 was 23:33 and post video was 22:26.  While some of this was likely due to improved fitness (I was videoed during a big training camp with over 7 hours of swimming) otherwise my training remainded the same and forced me to focus on the flaws the video revealed.

KenD - 2009-07-27 9:45 AM Yes, under water videotaping.

I'd definitely go for it.  Especially if you can get a copy of it afterwards.

I'd do it if I could get a copy of it.

I've had it done various times in class, we all stand around in our swim suits and he would quickly go over all the tape but not gotten a copy...not as helpful as having it to refer to in the future or look at more carefully while at home.

I think it's probably the best thing you could ever do to improve your swim times as long as you get an analysis from a very qualified person and a copy of the film so you can get opinions from other very qualified people.

Videotaping is awesome - it was really eye-opening to see what I actually looked like - not at all what I was picturing in my head!!  Surprised

I did mine at a weekend TI class.  But my class only had 3 folks registered - long story short, we made it a one-day class, but the instructor offered us to come back to attend the "second day" of his next weekend workshop, and we could get filmed again too.  I was crazy excited to hear that - this gives me a couple months to work on my stroke, and I'm really looking forward to getting filmed again to see how (if?!? LOL) I've improved.

The instructor makes our videos available for us through Facebook - works great.

Do it if you can - it's worth it.

Cheers, Chris

I'm in the middle of a weekly swim class and at the first class the instructor took underwater video and showed it to us.

Let's just say it really motivated me to pay attention in class and practice what we learn...
