Great book, isn't it?  My inner stickler and I have never been so satisfied to know that we're not alone in our quest for at least reasonably close to proper use of the English language.

Haven't read the book, but have a real problem with various consultants (education, business, etc.) presenting reports with spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors. In one case, the grammer prompted me to look closely at the data and guess what??? It was flawed too!

Doing my best McLaughlin impersonation:

You're both wrong! They are typographical errors!

Grammar is about syntax and structure. Typos are typos.

This is fun.

I never said they were either. I just corrected the sentence. The original sentence may have made an erroneous point, but that is not for the translator to judge.

My point was that the poster was criticizing one person's flaws while commiting his own. Sh!t happens, unless you're without sin don't be lobbing rocks.

Yes, yes, yes, I got that.

Ya know, on McLaughlin Group they don't stop to explain these things. The convo's just fly all over the place, fast and furious. But no rocks; they don't throw rocks. I love that show.

Thank You one and all.

Not perfect, and since we don't have a spell-check for these things, I'll commit more. I do carefully check any professional report or presentation I make.

I run my life by a few guiding principles...one of which is to NEVER lob rocks at bears.

I was referring to the original original. Not your corrected original.

And I was defending both your subsequent original correction and my subsequent ENHANCEMENT to your subsequent original correction to Renee.

IF any rocks were being lobbed, it was AT RENEE in RETALIATION to the rocks she was lobbing at you. So, in effect, due to the reverse polarity of the situation, YOU are in fact lobbing rocks at ME by insinuating I am lobbing rocks at YOU when in fact I am DEFENDING your subsequent original correction to the post-correction and re-correction post by Renee.

I, too, was lobbing rocks at Renee, it was her I quoted. So quit lobbing rocks at ME by insinuating I am lobbing rocks at YOU when in fact I was...

Oh, never mind. This whole thread has gotten rediculous.
