Subject: Hawaii v. Lake PLacid?

Which one is tougher?  Lake Placid, with the hills or Hawaii with the wind and heat?

 Times are typically slower at Placid, but that's probably because everyone isn't trainging just for that one event like they do for Hawaii.

Although I have only done Hawaii, my coach has done IMLP twice and Hawaii three times. He feels that Hawaii is the harder course.

Hawaii can vary with conditions pretty widely.  The course profile itself is nothing so remarkable and both LP and WI would be "tougher" to post the same finish time given roughly equal conditions (which, of course, you can never assume).

One of my training partners has done Placid 6 times and Hawaii 8 times and says that in general Hawaii is tougher, though there have been years that Hawaii has had good weather race day and was therefore easier that year.

Kona is tougher cuz in order to race it you have to qualify 1st (or win the lottery)

You mention WI - what is it that makes that course tougher?

From friends I know who have done WI, unless you live in FL, WI isn't all that in terms of difficulty. I think CDL is harder than WI.
