Sunny
Total Time = 2h 45m 45s
Overall Rank = 144/239
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 14/19
Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:30, Loaded the truck. Ate PB and Banana sandwich and glass of apple juice on the way to the race.
Event warmup:

Went for a short run after the HIM started.
Swim
  • 21m 4s
  • 1000 meters
  • 02m 07s / 100 meters
Comments:

Felt good on the swim I didn't go too hard or too easy. This was exactly what I expected for this race. Hadn't had a swim training session in probably 2 months (partner flaked on me and the pools began closing early).
Transition 1
  • 03m 39s
Comments:

Very long transition zone. Forgot to open shoes again. Ended up popping of shoes while some one held the bike. Also forgot to turn on GPS before going to swim.
What would you do differently?:

See comments above
Bike
  • 1h 07m 38s
  • 22 miles
  • 19.52 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride. Better average than I had set for myself.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, keep riding strong.
Transition 2
  • 02m 55s
Comments:

Stayed in shoes to run through transition due to length to get to the rack. Planned to be out of the shoes on the bike, but changed the plan based on the transition setup, good decision making (i must have still been hydrated and fed at this point)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing this transtion was pretty good for what it was.
Run
  • 1h 10m 29s
  • 6.55 miles
  • 10m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Cramped in the right quad at mile 3. At mile 5.25 bonked bad. When I would slow to walk I would become dizzy and have blurred vision.
What would you do differently?:

Take in more than just water in the beginning of the run.

Hey Fred- nice to have met you out there in the lake. Didn't know how you recognized me with my cap and goggles on, but I'm glad you said hi! Our times are very similar, I was 2:46. Great race though- except for the wind, and having to run through lots of dirt and pebbles! Take care and hope to see you at another race!

Great race- way to battle the wind on the bike!  That ride was rough!  I was so jealous of all you one- loopers on the bike course
