Champion 7704![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Williamston, Michigan | Subject: I Don't wanna go!!!!!!!!Ok heres the deal...My partner ...well we really aren't partners yet, but we have a contract in the works..... (I guess technically I am an employee of the hospital supplying my income guarantee...sometimes being a doc is complitcated) decided that it would be a nice thing to take "our" employees on a cruise for Christmas. I brought up the point (last year) that perhaps many of "our" employees would prefer the cash, but we cruised ahead so to speak. NOW, my salary is paying for half which I am totally OK with. We have great people and they deserve a Christmas gift. However. my 'partner' and his wife are staying in a VIP suite and I am on the bottom deck in a windowless room. Now maybe he had frequent flyer miles or something, but knowing him as I do I am sure the practice is paying for it. I would happily have paid more for my own room to upgrade however was not given that option. Also he has used this as an excuse to change the call schedule and now I am on call for 3 straight weeks. Also its like its HIS cruise christmas gift although I am paying for half of it. The TRavel agent didn't even recognize me as a dr on the travel doccuments. Also because many things are not included on the cruise IE tipping and beverages and because many of our employees do not have formal wear needed for a cruise now I am hearing all the complaining because I am the one who won't be upset and will commiserate. I REALLY do not want to go on this cruise. Actually I never wanted to go on this cruise however that was not an option anyway. AARGGHHHH I hate cruises and I hate Mexico which is where we are going. I'm never going to get my house decorated for Christmas or my packages in the mail. I can't train and I have to leave my bike at home. I HATE lying in the sun and we spend 2 days at sea. Am I totally crazy or should I purposely fall off my bike a feign an injury? Anyway I feel better now that I have had my little vent. Thanks -s Edited by sue7013 2004-11-30 9:06 PM |

Philadelphia, south of New York and north of DC | Subject: RE: I Don't wanna go!!!!!!!!The current issue of National Geographic has a story on the degredation of Titanic. It includes photographs of what remains of some personal possesions; shoes, combs, mirrors, and the like. It also contains a pretty spooky description of how the bodies rained down onto the sea floor for hours after the ship sank. Buy a bunch of copies and leave them around the office ;-) |

I know you don't want to go, but maybe you could work out extra hard the week before you leave so your body could enjoy a good rest period? You could come back stronger than ever. Plus, don't some cruises offer exercise classes? You know like that cruise commercial with the "girls just wanna have fun" song? |

Master 1597![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Colorado | Subject: RE: I Don't wanna go!!!!!!!!Funny- my family and I are going on a cruise exactly like you just described. We're kind of in the same boat (no pun intended) in that my parents set the whole thing up so we're going to be with a bunch of relatives we could do without. I figure we'll just use the port time to get away and practice the whole open water swim thing. This is a long shot, but you wouldn't be going on the Diamond Princess, would you? |

Granted, during the holidays, we all typically do social engagements that we're not particularly fond of, but it does sound like this Dr.-partner is taking advantage of the situation. It's probably too late now, but why not just a fishing trip? Or a short gambling cruise? Cruise to the Bahamas for a day or two for shopping and whatnot. Personally, I'd love to have your problem - the company I worked for last year booked a hotel at a ski resort, and a great dinner. This year, nada. If I want to ski, it's on my own $, and I am certainly not making now what I made then... |

I really like all my employees, but they could probably care less if I go or not. I brought in some formal wear for people to borrow so they wouldn't have to put out a lot of money, so those who fit into my outfits are using those. Hopefully that at least helps a little. There are really mixed emotions in the office about this. SOme people are really excited, some are annoyed because they would have rather had the cash and don't want to spend money on clothes etc for the trip. we are leaving tomorrow and I haven't started to pack. I'm going for a long bike ride first!!! I'm, stuck. Maybe I'll meet a cute guy on the ship..............I'll keep you updated on our return. |

BTW there are gym facilities on most liners, hopefully the one you're on will. OR.... why not take a detour - instead of heading to the docks, head north. You can hang out here in this cold for a week |
