I like the R and R marathons (and halfs) and have either ran or registered for each one this year.  They are fairly well run.  Most are fairly crowded, with the exception of the races that offer fulls and halves (most due the half) so that the 2nd half of the full is pretty sparse.  They seem to cater to beginners and first timers a little more than other races I've ran, but not to the point of causing a problem.  My marathon time is ~3:46, and I'm ususally in the top 10 to 15%.  There is a serious lack of porta-potties at the beginning of each of these races, so plan ahead.  Finally, the company that hosts, Elite Racing, seems to have a very bad problem with overly smoothing the elevation charts.  The website shows the race as flat, then you run it and wonder where the hills came from.  I have race reports from this years Country Music and San Diego races if you want to read more.

I'm in. I registered yesterday at half price. I have run several RnRs (SJ, SD, AZ, TN) and plan on running in San Antonio later this year.

Elite does provide a strong pro field to chase the prize money but it's main focus is the mass market of runners. I have found that they put on a strong and organized race. The medals are the best in the business IMO. I also try to attend the post race concert for added value. Each RnR sponsors a kids race of 1 mile. The kiddos get a sweet medal and t-shirt for their efforts.

I did the RnR half marathon in Virginia Beach.  It wasn't my favorite race.  It was very crowded and there were a few problems with the race organization.

I'm reg'd for the half (it will be my second half marathon, hopefully)....and I am happy that a bunch of my tri friends and family are also lining up for the race(s).  I am going to have a kick-arse costume, that's for sure.  And hopefully a respectable time, as well.
