Wedding Gift Help

Cash, tbh it was the most useful gift we got, seems impersonal but always comes in handy.

This may be cheesy but I always give The Better Homes and Gardens cookbook as a wedding gift.  It's a great go to book for everything from roasting a turkey, to making a sauce, or baking chocolate chip cookies.   I always inscribe my wishes for it to get used for years of holiday gatherings, romantic dinners, and one day maybe cookies with the grandkids. etc, etc.  Since it only sets you back about 30$ I usually add a gift card to a kitchen store or place where they are registered.  Several of my friends have commented that it has been one of their most used gifts.

Cash is really nice.  We used ours during our honeymoon.  Very nice to have some cash after all the wedding craziness.

My favorite gift that I didn't ask for was a crystal bowl from Tiffany's.  I love using it.   Plus, you'll get points with the bride.   

I love this idea.  But to add to it, pick a recipe out and buy all the dry ingredients so they can whip it up.  You could also throw in a gift cert to a local rest. in case the recipe doesn't turn out

Here is one that I have used and you can spend as much or as little as you want.  And it appears they like wine so they will like this.

Get three bottles of wine.  1 desert wine, 1 bottle of champaign and 1 bottle of port.

On each make certain a note states when to open it.

Desert wine - open on their 1 year anniversary.  Normally desert wines are only good for a few years anyway.  Normally desert wines are fairly inexpensive.

Champaign - open on their 5 year anniversary.  Now you can start to get some good stuff.  You can go all out or go cheap.

Port - open on their 10 year anniversary.  Again, you can go cheap or whole hog.  If you get a good one (say 20 yo) then when they open it, it will be 30 yo. 

Anyway, I liked this idea when I read about it because you are saying "here is to your future, may you last at least 10 years". 

Buy something associated with their hobby ... we registered for camping stuff and our friends love the idea of getting us things we'll use more often than the formal china that comes out of hiding once a year.
