The guy beat both the 100 and 200m world records. I'm pretty sure he would win the 400m gold too if he trained for it. What a runner!!! I thought Michael Johnson's mark would never be broken but the truth is, records are made to be broken, as they say.

Did he pull up in the 200m like he did in the 100m?

And wasn't his 100m WR also 9.65 (exactly 1/2 his 200m time)? It is unreal that he's that fast on the back half of the 200...

No he didn't pull up this time. He ran all the way through when he saw the clock and realized he was close to beating MJ's WR.

Unlike the Chinese, I don't think Jamaica is as up to speed on perfornace enhancing drugs that can go unchecked (or overlooked) in Olmpic Games IMHO...

Makes you wonder how many other genetic freeks of nature are out there like Phelps, Bolt etc that with the right coaching, etc would blow us all away on the main stage...

The only performance enhancer a Jamaican would be on is the ol' reefer and that tends to slow you down and not speed you up.

Hope he's clean as the distance he wins by seems the same as Marion Jones when she was beating the best in the world.

Marion didn't look like a thoroughbred next to ponies.  Steroids don't make a person 6 1/2 feet tall.  Just looking at Bolt, you can see that, like Phelps, he won the genetic lottery as far as being built to run.

I've been to Jamaica 4 times, and it's good to see someone from there achieve something so amazing.  Most of the Jamaican's I've met are very proud of their country, and just all around cool people.

They should check his cell phone and see if Ben Johnson is on his speed dial.

Trimybest: He does have great genetics and all but if you can gap a field of world class athletes in the 100 and looks like 10-15 feet in the 200 seems pretty strange as these are very short races.
And yes Marion was a steed that would gap the field in the 100 with ease.
Not pointing fingers just sayin?

Have no doubt about it. The kid might not get caught, but he is most definetely using some form of steroids along with almost every other person on that track. Man was not meant to run the 100m in less than 10 seconds. Any person that does is no doubt using.

While I agree that if all the track athletes were clean Bolt would still be the best out of all of them, let's not kid ourselves he is doping for sure. I doubt you will see him be competitive at the next olympics probably for that reason.

Hmmm. I love these sorts of blanket statements backed up with scientific proof. Why did you pick 10 seconds as the doping threshold? I mean, if 9.9 is too fast, why not 10? I mean, I'm sure all these people were doping, back in 1960.

And hey, Jesse Owens ran a 10.2 back in 1936. I mean, I can accept that 10.3 was done naturally. But 10.2? No way, man. That's just nuts. Jesse Owens had to be doping too. Here is the progression of the 100 WR, complete with all the dopers. There are actual dopers in there but I was too lazy to edit the HTML.

I'm skeptical on the assertions that Bolt is using performance enhancing drugs.

Look at his progress since he was 14. He's made a steady, constant progression. It's wholly possible he's clean.

Plus, it's not like he's a cyclist.

Interesting how he played up to the cameras like an egotistical, narcissistic, a-hole right after the race.  The dancing, the shoes, the salutes, the, "I'm number one.  I'm the best.".  But then in his post-race interview he was pretty humble, grateful and showed good sportsmanship.  I wonder if the first part was aimed solely at his Jamaican countrymen in which he hammed it up on purpose.  But in the interview with the American reporter he was more himself?

Unlike Michael Phelps whom had competition in some of his races, Bolt looked like he was jogging the last 50 meters in the qualifiers and in the finals, no one was even in the same picture.  Everyone else was just honestly racing for the silver.  What's truly scary is that he STILL didn't look too winded or tired after crossing the line.  He looked like he had the legs to go 400 at nearly the same pace and I don't know why he couldn't train for the 400 as well.  Could you imagine in '12 someone winning gold in the 100, 200 AND 400?!

... Michael Johnson's reaction was CLASSIC!  He just laughed and gave this, "DAMN!  No way I could've ever run THAT fast" look on his face!

How does someone that tall make their legs move that fast?!

I admit that I don't follow track and field that closely, but when did Jamaica become such a powerhouse in Track and Field?  They are not such a big country.  About 3 million people?

Apparently everyone has gone the way of "Guilty until proven innocent".  It really sucks that people can't just say the guy is fast and they if found out later he used something jump all over him.
