Subject: RE: Bike v runningExcellent question. From what I've been able to read on the subject (admitted tri-noob here ), if you keep the total TIME of your weekly aerobic workouts the same, you shouldn't lose much. You'll probably lose some running, but it will come back quicker if you're maintaining the aerobic base. So if you currently run 3x a week for an hour at a time, say, split those 3 hours up among biking and swimming (2 biking, 1 swimming? ) and you'll be able to maintain your base. Then, when you get back running, you'll be able to regain any lost fitness pretty quick, because that base will still be there. Make any sense at all? |
