Just got off the phone with PJGrande.  She came back from indanapolis last night (her mother inlaw passed away the night before ironman.......she and her husband steve drove down).  she had her hip injected with some stuff to further investigate her hip issues.  she then called down to steve and the paramedics were in his hotel room.  he had a stroke and isnt doing all the well from what i could make out from what she was telling me.

please drop by her logs and give her some wellwishes, she could really use them.

thanks.

Why does this kind of sh1t happen all at once?  That just isn't fair.

I saw her just outside T1 by the bikes across from where I was at cheering you on!

I'll send some good wishes to her.

Thanks, Dave!

Talked to PJ on the way to the gym this morning and there is tons of good to great news to report!!!  as bleak as things were looking only two days ago, things are 100% better from that time.  Steve was on a feeding tube due to losing the ability to swallow, but is now able to take in some food on his own (soft foods, aka..yogurt and the like).  also, looks like they have the go ahead to come back home to wisconsin today, tho they might just wait until tomorrow morning to leave as to not battle chicago traffic. PJ herself sounded very very relieved and a LOT less stressed/worried this time around and at one point was even laughing..............i think i can speak for her and say thank you to the nation and everyone else that had them in your prayers and thoughts.

You are all AWEOME! Steve is, as Dave said, doing so very well. I fully believe in the power of prayer, and the massive amounts of prayers that we have had have helped so much. Steve went from sleeping the majority of the time for 3 days, no ability to swallow, slurred speech, left sided weakness...to swallowing some foods, and today, liquids!! He still coughs some with liquids, but no choking. His speech is great, and is walking well. His deficits at this time are: fine motor movements of left hand (he is right handed!), becomes fatigued easily, and the inability to do math. (he was a total math wiz, did any tough math in his head...ie...did my math for me!) He is a bit depressed about that, but with the speed of the rest of his deficits, we are encouraged. His comprehension and ability to form proper sentences and communicate were NOT effected. His stroke involved about a 5.3 x3.4cm area to his R frontal lobe of his brain, from a blood clot. We think stress from his mothers very recent death, and a low INR (he was on coumadin for years from previous stroke 10 yrs ago (with no residual problems)). All in all, he (and the family) were extremely blessed with such a great rapid recovery. AGAIN Thanks to all of you so very much for your prayers and well wishes...it so helped me through it all, and the road to come. My hip surgery will probably be in the next week or so..... Love you all! Pam
