Subject: Garmin 305 Question

I've had a Garmin 305 since May and use it almost every time I run or bike.  I have a ton of data on my computer now, but am not sure what I should do with it--is there part of the program where it will look at my data and then give me some recommended workouts?  I try to navigate around the Garmin Training Center that came with it but I haven't found much this way.

My main question is about breaking down my runs into miles--I can't figure out how to see what pace I ran each mile.  It will break it into zones (based on what, I am not sure, but I am guessing it is preset with some when you get it).  I know the answer will be to review the booklet or delve deep into a website....but I am a mom of two little boys who are usually hanging off my legs when I am on the computer so am hoping for an easy answer for now, and hopeful that as time goes on I can learn even more ways to use the Garmin to improve my times and endurance, etc.  Any hints and tips are appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

-Leslie

There is an option for auto-laps. I have mine set for 1 mile laps. Every mile it automatically does a lap. That way I can analyze each mile.

X2 what Aaron said. Then you can upload the data into your BT training log and get some neat charts and graphs to analyze.

Sporttracks (http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/will let you do arbitrary splits on your recorded data, but it takes a while to figure out the interface and you'd have to import all your recorded data.  The Auto-split is the best way to get 1 mile splits with Training Centre.

x2.

Get Sports Tracks.  It makes Garmin's software look silly.

Thanks for the suggestions...I've set up auto lap and downloaded sport tracks.  Now, I had better get out and train!
