So I was looking at NY races today and I saw that the Keuka Olympic distance is this years NE Region Championships. Anyone planning on racing there this year? I'm thinking about changing my plans so I can give it a shot.

I think I'm mildy confused about something here... are all the distances at Lake Keuka qualifying races? Or is it just the Oly one that is top 5 or top 33% make it to nationals?

Just the intermediate/olympic distance is the USAT NE Age Group Regional Championships.

it's a great event.... it was my first tri 2 seasons ago. i had a blast. water is a little bit brisk. but it's a fairly shallow part of the lake so it warms up pretty quick. (can i say that when it is 0* outside right now?)

you guys will have fun

It is a very well run race and the venue is perfect. Last year the waster was cold and the air temperature was hot and humid. After the race many of us went back down to the water just to cool off. I am signed up and would highly recommend this race.

you can qualify with a top 33% or top 5 finish in the sprint at regional championship races.  Top 3 at all other USAT sanctioned events, sprint or olympic.  The only race at the championship is Olympic.  I read this right from USAT website....

Kueka will be my first Tri.  What type of wetsuit should one have for doing Tri's in this area.  Sleeved or sleeveless?

Yeah I thought I read the same thing which is what confused me, but I e-mailed the race director and he said that only the Olympic distance at Lake Keuka is the regional championship (meaning top 5 or top 33%)

Keuka Lake is typically still pretty cold around then. If you have a choice, I'd use a full suit.

OTOH, it's a great motivator to get out of the water quicker.

And I've always had feeling return to my hands and feet by the time I hit the run course.

Actually, the user "ironpower" who posted above IS the race director.  Very nice guy, truly excellent RD with a great crew. Score-This! puts on great races.

And one of the best things about this race is the food. It's served in the college cafeteria by the cafeteria staff. Bring your appetite.

So great to read all the good feedback on this race! It'll be my 1st Oly and I'll be sure to help fill the bottom 33% so they don't feel left out of not making Nationals :]

The course is different this year compared to previous ones right?

I raced last year.  The water was c-c-cold, so sleeves are recommended.  Then on the run we sweated our butts off, it was in the 80s, I believe!

I am looking to do as many as possible before musselman

If not, what's the earliest tri in the greater region that anyone may know about?
