Subject: RE: Sullivan Civic Center Triathlon : Official Threadlortciger - 2009-04-04 7:24 AM Hello everyone, this is going to be my first tri ever. Heck, I didn't start running, biking, or swimming until a year ago and I am about to turn 40. I heard it was a great place to start, except now my nerves are kicking in and I don't know how I am going to finish - which is my only goal. So look for the last person in and that most likely will be me. All this talk about the wind isn't helping me, is it really that bad? Don't get me wrong I am living in Macomb, IL and the winds have been rough at times but I have been trying to avoid it. Guess I shouldn't. Any tips to make this easier? Don't worry about it. If you have been training for a year, this will be a walk in the park. Seriously, though, this is a GREAT tri for beginners. It was my first tri 2 years ago and I still keep it on my calendar. Small. Supportive. Great volunteers. My best advice is in my signature line. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Keep repeating that on race day and before you know it you will be across the finish line and can call yourself a triathlete.
