You are probably convinced already, but Keswick is an awesome shop especially for triathletes. Good luck in Philly!

Does anyone know how the water is looking?  I hear it gets pretty muddy when there is lots of rain. Should have a nice current for the swim my be able to just jump in a float down.

Ok. So is anyone else worried about the number of entries for the Olympic tri? This will be my first time at Philly, but I have ridden the bike course and I can see it getting very crowded! Just wondering.

Depending on what wave you are in and how fast you are, it can get quite crowded, especially on the second lap.  you have to stay alert b/c you can have top amateurs going 25+ passing some of the slower late wave riders who are going <15mph.  It can get tricky.  If you stay right and call out "on your left" you should be fine though.

Wave 6.  Can only hope the "legal drafting" benefits outweigh steering through all that traffic.

I'm in wave 6 too.  If I remember right, I was in a similar number last year, and yes, the second bike loop can get a little crowded.  About the only saving grace is that the streets are closed to car traffic, so it's only us bikes out there.

careful on the bike...i had a friend crash last year.  this is def not the race to PR your bike time!  stay alert and be vocal when passing.  I'm in the 16-18 mph range and i hate it when people whizz past without even a chirp.

On the other side, it's hard to yell "on your left" for an hour straight.  And there are many times it's safer to just whizz past as an "on your left" call sometimes gets heads turning and bikes drifting.  But, yes, try to be safe everybody.  No need to take any crazy chances out there.

And also, FWIW, I am aiming to PR my bike time.

I intend to do well on the bike too, but I'll be yelling "On your left" for a bit more than  an hour . I know there will be some hairy areas especially on the downhills and Black Rd in particular. I imagine people will drift left as it turns under the expressway, plus folks on their second loop may be slowing for transition.

I guess that bring up a rules question; if the entire road is closed to any traffic other than race traffic, and it's one way bike traffic, is it still a penalty to cross the double yellow? There are a lot of places where that could apply. I'll have to ask at the expo. Neil loves answering those sorts of questions

Looks like from the note the RD just sent that the swim will be on.  I'm excited!  This will be my first tri.  It does sound from the instructions that the bike course will be crowded.  Good luck to everyone.

I was reading all the race reports of this race on BT...and there were a couple people that mentioned that people were all over the place anyways, crossing the yellows. Not that that makes it legal...but maybe safety in numbers as far as time penalty? I don't know...if I feel like people are slowing me up too much, I might cross the yellow to get ahead.

BTW...this is my first oly tri ever!!! And my third tri ever!!!! I'll be flying in from Ann Arbor, MI! I'm really excited and nervous. I'm kinda afraid of the hills. Normally, I'm a pretty strong cyclist...but I don't have the legs for climbing yet. Too late now! lol

Go luck on your first olympic distance! Don't let the hills scare you. There are a couple of pretty steep climbs, but they're relatively short.

This is going to be my first race in 3 years. I've been out nursing ankle injuries that I still haven't been able to totally shake, but have decided to ignore so I can get on with my life.

This will be my second Philly triathlon. The first one I did the swim was cancelled because of a storm the night before, and they converted it to a duathlon.  Let's keep our fingers crossed for no rain (we've been getting soaked out here)!
