Subject: RE: Cold water swim - insulated swim cap?The first OWS of season around here is typically in 53-55* water. I have used a squid lid in these practices and found that my head is able to reheat and the cold induced headache able to subside quicker. That said, it is still @#$^% cold when the water hits you.
The draw back that I found is that I did not like having my ears covered and sound muffled. Other than than, it was pretty much worth the $20 investment.
Aikidoman - 2009-06-02 2:42 PM I am doing Alcatraz in a couple weeks, and was planning to buy a neoprene swim cap. Why? Not sure... Maybe just being a lemming.
I feel like I'm pretty cool (no pun intended) with cold water and wonder about the actual need for a special cap and maybe I could save the 20 bucks plus shipping.
So, those that know about swimming in 60 degree water, is the neoprene cap needed, or just a luxury in your opinion? |
