I am interested but want to plug some numbers into my calendar to see if it's reasonable. I'm a new rider so I know doing 1200-1400 may seem easy to you I need to be reasonable I'll get back to you.

I'm up for this!  That'll help me reach my goals for the year.

I haven't swam so far this year, so my goal for the second half of the year is to actually get in the pool.

Hey Bill - toss me into this challenge, all 3 sports.  I have at least two sprint tris for the 2nd half of the year and maybe a 3rd... I need to keep my volume up (or increase it for better race times!)!  I'll look over my plans and see if something more in any sport is a reasonable goal. -Cynthia

okay bill, i'm in. the girls convinced me that if I'm going to be ready for El Tour I best get my butt on the bike for at least 54 miles per week. Does RPM/Spin class count or just actual road miles? I'll just be doing the biking. No swim or running for me anymore.

I'll give you some history so you understand why no swim and run for me.

I was not really an athletic person except for the occassional aerobics classes. I had no experience with swimming except for as a child (we had a pool), hadn't really ridden a bike since I was about 13, I hated running.  After watching a marathon for years near our house I decided that I wanted to do the 1/2 marathon in December of 2007. I started training that Summer (keep in mind I'm in AZ and summer is HOT) and followed a plan. It took me 5 hours to finish the 1/2 because I walk/ran (more like a plod for me) it. The first 1/2 went okay but the 2nd half was like torture. My goal was to finish and that's what I did. Okay, that was crossed off the "lifes list".

In April of 2008 I decided I wanted to do a triathlon. Not sure why but I did. There was one coming up in July but as it got closer I realized I wasn't ready. I did a sprint distance tri in October 2008. I still didn't like the run portion and spent 45 minutes doing 3 miles. Even though I didn't like the running I had in my mind I wanted to do an Olympic distance. Well that all changed when my husband was doing some tests for a heart procedure he was going to have on October 31st and they told him the open heart surgury we thought wouldn't have to happen for 5 years needed to happen now.

My life in November and December was a bit emotional. My husband had open heart surgury in December. During all of this time I was reevaluated my life and trying to decide what did I enjoy and what was I spending time doing that I didn't enjoy.

I had already decided to do a Sprint in May so I did it but before the event had made a decision that I would not run (if you could even call what I did running) any more. I did a bike event in April and really enjoyed it. With limited time it's great to be able to go out my front door and jump on my bike. I enjoy swimming but it isn't as easy for me to get to the pool and it costs me money.

With all that said I have decided I will stick with biking and not swim or run. I hope I am still welcome at the BT site.

I'm good I'm a good teaser too so I hope you can give it and get it

I've wondered though if people care if I just bike. I haven't gotten that feeling at all on BT. It's a great group of people. The Arizona people are really fun.

I am at peace and feel much better about training rather than dreading it. Husband is doing great. We started doing RPM classes together once a week and the Dr. gave him the okay to ride outside so we need to get his bike a tune up. I may ride tomorrow and Sunday but not sure. Or maybe I should slack so I don't have to match as many miles

Yep. Javamom is in Phoenix. I'm about 2 hours south in Tucson. Those Phoenix people are a blast. I'm always afraid I'll have to disclose I'm not doing work when I burst out laughing at something one of them said when I take a BT reading break.

I'm definitely in. Thanks for setting this up - it will keep me going through Nov/Dec which are usually my "slacker" months.

I am in for all three areas.  I will post my numbers on June 30th and what the goals will be.  I am hoping to more than douple the number.

I'm in for doubling all three as well.  This should be a great way to gauge how much better I was able to get as my first year of training progresses.
