Subject:Roswell 22 Mile Ride Tuesday, June 29th 6pm @ RAP
Ride Description We are doing the Roswell Ride on Tuesday 6pm leaving from the Roswell Area Park upper parking lot. Starting at Roswell Area Park we ride through Historic Downtown Roswell. We then take a few good hills followed by a ride down Riverside along the Chattahoochee, with alot of good hills along the way back to the finish. See the map below for the full route and elevation profile. A & B Group We usually break into an A and a B group. I lead the B group and the A group is led by whatever fast people show up. The A group is not no drop. If you get dropped by the A group and don't know the route, stop, consider yourself in the B group, andwe will be along shortly... Tip of the week A couple new riders were with the A group last week, got dropped, and made the right decision to stop and wait for the B group. They were about to miss a turn, never to be heard from again... Unless you want to scout your own new and improved Roswell route, stop & wait a few minutes for the B group until you know the route. Don't forget your running shoes and Taco Mac Passport! We do a short 1.5 mile run around RAP after the ride, before heading up to Taco Mac for some well earned refreshment. We usually arrive at Taco Mac around 8:15pm and it's located at 685 Crossville Rd in Roswell, GA. Weather Guideline It's currently forecasted to be a Mostly Sunny 86 degrees and should make for good, slightly hot riding weather. No Drop The B group is a No Drop ride in case any of you want to ride but are not sure of yourself. We had a Great Turnout last week and a good time was had by all! Lately the number of riders has been growing every week. May the trend continue... Hope to see you there! Justin Directions to Roswell Area Park Click Here for Google Maps Directions to Roswell Area Park Located at 10495 Woodstock Rd Roswell, GA 30057 Directions once you turn into Roswell Area Park Go to the first street on your right which will take you up to the Community Activity Center where we park. Generally we all park together in front of the Community Activity Building where there is access to Water and restrooms. If there happens to be a swim meet at the Community Activity center that day, parking may be limited in front of the building. Just park anywhere and ride your bike over to the front of the building at 6pm. I'm running Late getting to the Ride, how long will you wait? If you make it into the community center parking lot by 6:00pm the group will wait for you to depart. As a Triathlete, the expectaction is you will make a speedy transition to your bike in under 5 minutes! If you are not in the parking lot by 6pm, unless you are a new rider, we will depart at the scheduled time. Riders who have done the loop many times before should have no problem catching up to the group. After going through downtown Roswell and turning right on Shallowford, you will go left down Atlanta Street instead of Coleman to Marietta Hwy. Go right on Marietta Hwy and then wait for the group at the intersection of Willeo and Marietta Hwy. If you're a new rider or too late to catch up by that route call me on my cell and we'll try to coordinate a meetup point along the route. Contact Info PM me and I will send you my Cell Number if you need it. It's also on the North Atlanta Multisport Club Directory for members of our club. http://www.northatlantamultisport.org/
If you want to blaze new routes, that is kind of my forte, believe trail_runner can account for that! I would have considered my newbie experience as a B grouper to start out with, never really was going to catch Karen, won't know until you try right? Look forward to seeing everyone again!
jonathan22 - 2009-06-29 1:34 PM I took vacation this week JUST so I could do this ride.
I'm in!
I need to do 30 so I will be doing the extra 5 miler at the end (turn left on Jones Rd instead of right to head back to RAP).
Karen and I were discussing doing the 22 and heading back down to Riverside without doing the Martin's Landing part. I do not know how many miles that is, but you are welcome to join us if you would like.
Thanks Neal on my inaugural post...I will drink a beer to you after our ride & RUN tonight ... only 890 more posts to catch you... I hope this isn't as addicting as everything else in this sport...
autigers_1998 - 2009-06-30 2:37 PM I'm out. As badly as I want to see you guys and ride the Alps of Roswell.... my hamstrings are not with the program so I have to skip.
