I'll bring the beer.  Who has the brats, burgers, grill, ketchup, buns, etc?

Anyone remember what they give for post-race food?  I seem to remember cookies...  Wouldn't want to double-up.  I think we need to coordinate buns better this year.  I seem to remember a bun surplus.

I'll bring:

  1. a bag of chips
  2. a package of chicken sausages to share,
  3. pack of hotdog buns to go with the weiners.
  4. And mustard.

I also have a huge bag of plastic silverware that I can bring, so no one should buy anything like that.

Whoot!  I'll bring some vegetarian grilling options.  And maybe some pasta salad thing.  We're camping out the night before, so my options may be limited to whatever grocery store I find up there.

What is this "vegetarian" you speak of?

I'll bring 8 burgers and buns to match.

Also in for a bag of charcoal and the means with which to set it alight.

Here we go...  Just remember, that means more for you carnivores to eat.  I'll call that a win. Kiss

I'll be there but can't participate in post-race activities. When my 3 kids are a little older I'll starting hanging around afterward. At this stage of life, I need to get home right away.

Sounds like fun. Can't wait for the race. I've heard great things.

Sorry you can't stay.  Say hi before you go!  Assuming you're not already packed and gone by the time I'm done, of course, which is a distinct possibility.

I'll bring a bottle full of pain killers and some venison beer sticks.  Kelly will bring me.  I'm sure we'll have some beer in tow also.

Summary so far:
- Joe: beer
- Pattie: vegetarian grill fare, maybe pasta
- Emily: sausages/buns, chips x1, mustard
- John: burgers/buns, coals (I assume grill space is available??)
- Bryan: maybe beer, busted ribs, general whining

Pony up, people. As long as there is beer, it counts as a party, but I know we can do better.

I'll bring Bryan and all his woes.  In addition, we'll bring some hamburger patties, buns and cookies.  Sorry Emily, HOLT did not have cookies to my recollection and I am a cookie fan.

Oh, we'll bring the HIbachi too incase the grills have been sniped.

Kelly, if you're running low on space bring the grill and leave Bryan behind because they don't have many grills in the park.

Since I don't like beer (*gasp* the horrors!!) I'll bring some non-beer type beverages.

I'll also bring some fruit since I love love love it after a race.

If I do end up stopping by, is there something I can bring that is non-essential, so if I don't no one will be deprived? (aside from deprived of my fabulous company, sunny disposition, and rapier wit, I mean) :-)

Sarah and I had talked about volunteering at this race, but we have spent every weekend for the last thousand weekends (it seems) driving all over the place.  As much fun as it would be to volunteer and then grill out with all of you, we just want to sleep in and have a lazy weekend.

Good luck, all of you, and have a grilled veggie item for us.

It's very flat.  There was mention of a "big hill", but I don't remember it.   Come by to the BT gathering after the race introduce yourself.

Definitely.  Judging from my bike pace last year, it must be pretty flat.  Hope to meet you!

I think there used to be a pretty decent one--down as much as up, though--but I think when they repaved some roads, it got lost (or, it was just there WHEN they were repaving). Other than that, though...yeah, pretty flat/rolling. Similar to Waconia, I'd say.

Subject: TRAFFIC ALERT: Heart of the Lakes

Just got this on the GWTC list:

From MnDot - Motorists will encounter a detour on Hwy 55 in Medina between Highway 101 and County Road 116 beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, July 17 through 5 a.m. Monday, July 20, as work crews make road and drainage improvements.

Weekend travelers will detour from Hwy 55 onto Hwy 101 to County Road 10, to County Road 116 and back to Hwy 55.

Construction will extend for approximately five miles between County Road 116 and Fernbrook Lane.

Edit: I checked the map, this isn't too bad.  However, here's the route I am going to take as a total bypass:

Hwy 394/12 past Long Lake
Right on Cty 19 (past Baker Park)
Left on 55 in Loretto.
