I've updated the Rider Abandons list (6) but looking at yesterday's Stage there were 172 finishers. Seems there are two more riders gone but I can't find their names have been published.

Man, I like that Pelizotti pick. I'm not sure they'll let a name-brand guy go up the road even though he's two solid breaks away from being anywhere near the top of the GC. I should pick a spaniard, like Arroyo or Flecha, but man, they've been nowhere in this race and others.

Soo....

Sylvain Chavanel
Thomas Voeckler
Kurt-Asle Arvesen

I doubt Saxo will Arvesen go up the road, trying to protect the schlecks, but they may do the same thing they did with Spartacus...send him up the road, and depending how it plays out, pull him back to ride tempo if need be.

Caution to wind.

Chris Anker Sørensen (Gotta pick a fellow Dane at least once)

Wiggo!!! (Gotta pick an adopted countryman)

Vladimir Karpets (Oh come on. He's got a MULLET!)

1/ Boring Banker~ Bertie

2/ Niermann ~ Who???

3/ Le Mevel

Well I do have some catching up to do! GC contenders will come in a bunch finish again. It's a matter of picking the right breakaway riders again.

That was my thought, picked 2 guys that can win and are pretty far down on the GC + Bertie (lol, I like that nickname)

1) I don't think Bertie will escape on this stage because he won't have someone to suck wheel off of.  Even if he did get out with a breakaway, I bet they'd push him over because he just wanted to keep sucking wheel.

2) As for Sylvain Chavanel, I think Phil Liggett has a thing for him.  The only thing you hear more often than a mention of Sylvain Chavanel is during TTs when they mention "a carrot on a stick or a strawberry in front of a donkey..."

3) Euskatel, what's up with these guys? They should rename themselves Team Banzai!!!  They always have a guy in a breakaway and he never wins.  Has anyone seen one of these guys win a stage at the TdF?  I know they win at the Vuelta.

Just some observations for the group.

1/ I really must get round to explaining our side competition to everyone. Maybe tomorow as it's a rest day. Don't want to pick Contador all the time. Just have to, to get a certain decent time in.

2/Chave, Tom's mate. He's almost as great Hear that Jens ~ a strawberry in front of a Donkey... You like strawberrys?

3/EUS ~ they're Spanish Basque. Can only climb from where they come from. Ever seen them in a sprint? Only see them when there's hills about.Astarloza came 3rd yesterday. Poor lad tried at least.

Great piece of machinery in that pic. of yours Matt. Is that an armour plated bulldozer?

BTW where's your picks for today? I dare to to pick one from EUS

He's lost the plot Having to play catch up does that. Still need a GC banker rider for a while IMO.

I couldn't get the font size any smaller. Did that grudgingly

I thought about Martinez. Think he will go for the KOM points but not be there at the finish. Moncoutie ~ picked him last year & he let me down.

BTW, who is Niermann that I picked. Anyone know? Can't say I've heard of him before. Want him to do a Gerdemann. Wishful thinking anyway.

Cat, thanks for the comment on my picks... Moncoutie is due a win, I'm sure... may be he's savng himself for the Ventoux, has he did in the Duaphine, Auge is a local lad... wanting to win in front of a home crowd... Wiggins? Well Why break a habit! I'm not worried about making the 'right' choice. If i wasa pro i'd like to thin I'd be on a gutsy French team. Gutsy and French not to many times you see those words in the same sentance , not on a US website anyway!

Contador's move on stg. 7 was nothing but an attack on his own team mate... I'm not saying Lance could have stayed with him, but he stayed back and did what he needed to do. If it was Lance that attacked, would Contador played the defender and just let him go up the road???

I hope all hell rips loose on Le Geant!
NO he wouldn't. Wish it had been that way round, just to hear Lance complain afterwards.
