My wife and I got one this year since we had a newborn in February.  It is a great way to get workouts in and spend time doing things as a family.  We bought the Jeep brand stroller since it would allow us to use the car carrier until he is old enough to use the regular seat.  Also make sure you get one where the front wheel can swivel as this makes turning much easier.
Hope this helps!

I've heard over and over again BOB Joggin Strollers.  Pricey but worth it.  I'm in the market for one myself.

I highly recommend the Bob Stroller.  My wife and I have the double stroller for our two (now 4 & 3) and we love it.  My sister has the single stroller and two double bobs (they just now had thier third), they started out with the single, then got the double, then upgraded to the Ironman edition (for pure jogging).  We have the double revolution, which you can get the baby seat attachement for the double or single, and it allows a spinning front wheel (for strolling around) or locked position (for runs).  The Ironman just comes with the fixed front wheel, but it probably better for a pure jogging stroller.  Depends on your needs.  They are pricey, but very durable and worth the money if it's possible.  Luckily ours was a baby gift from our family.

Da Bob.

If you plan on using it for longer runs or putting a lot of miles on it the Bob is the way to go.

I have the BOB Revolution and absolutely love it. We bought it just for running and my wife insisted on getting an expensive Bugaboo stroller for everyday use and now the bugaboo rarely sees the light of day. I cannot stress enough how good the Bob is. Best money I ever spent. We use it for everything. I think we bought it on the REI website.

We've had the inStep 5k model for going on 8 years and 2 kids.  First used with my son and then my daughter.  My daughter is still small enough at 5.5 years old that it still gets used.

I have an instep that I use for biking and running and like it.  I wish the front wheel locked for running though.

My wife and I have a 3 month old and use the BOB revolution almost every day.  It's pricey, but well worth it.  They have a carseat adapter for it and we've used that quite a bit.  We just started running with her in the regular seat, as the straps still give quite a bit of head/neck support.  We love that the front wheel swivels for everyday use, but can lock for running.  It folds up easy and has plenty of storage.  Of all the baby gear we received, I'd say this is the one that gets the most consistent use.

What's it like jogging with the strollers?  Is it miserable at first?  Does it become tolerable or "unnoticeable"?  Does it throw off your mechanics quite a bit?

I suspect we'll be entering the realm of babies soon and we're both selfishly dreading the day when our training activities (largely together) get squashed.

We bought a Chariot Cougar stroller.  Again, pricey but excellent quality.  What's great about this one is it adapts for multi sports - With the one stroller you can have the running attachment, the bike attachment, and they also sell an attachment for you to pull it along behind you when cross country skiing so you can personalize it according to your activities.

I love this stroller and so does my baby.  I got it when she was 2 months old, too young to be strapped into the seat but they have an infant sling that you can put in there until baby can hold their own head up and can use the seat.  Its very lightweight to push while running, is completely enclosed for wet weather/snow, has a UV sun shield.  It has adjustable shocks that you adjust as baby gets heavier.  I run on trails, gravel and roads and no matter where I run baby gets a smooth ride and most times is asleep when I get home.

We tried to find a used one before buying used but you can't find them, as soon as they go up for sale someone snaps them up, plus they hold their resale value very well.  Can only be bought through speciality bike stores or through their website.  A great piece of kit.....

As for pushing the stroller running, you get used to it.  As a bonus it does add a bit of resistance so on days you aren't pushing it running feels easy! lol

IMO throw any ideas about "mechanics" etc. out the window.  I find it a bit more difficult to run with a jogger, but it's a trade off.  At least you're running and it is a nice way to spend time with the little ones.  My daughter loves to go with me and look at any critters she sees running around, people walking their dogs etc.  We stop by the local lake and she plays a bit, then hops back in and run some more.

Most of my training runs are done pushing a jog stroller and towing a boxer.  It's AMAZING how easy my running races have felt without the stroller or dog.

We have a Kelty which is very well made and is great for walking. For jogging, it is horrible because the front wheel is fixed and slightly out of alignment so it constantly pulls to one side. I have tried to remedy the issue but it is still a problem. I think that the handles are too high for jogging as well.

It is much more difficult to run while pushing and my shoulders get very tired. But my son loves to go with us and I usually will push him on my slower recovery runs. I did a 7 mile race with him earlier in the summer as we had no babysitter that day. We had to start in the back but ended up passing like 600 people. It was quite an experience.

Many have recommended BOB which is a great stroller BUT if she is not putting in a lot of miles it is not worth the price difference.

I used a Baby Trends stroller. I has ample storage and nice roof. Downside is it corners like a Jeep. I put almost 1000 miles on it in 2.5 years. It was fine. less than 20% the cost of BOB.

I then switched to a Kool Stride by Kool Stop not because the Baby Trend was shot but because I had another kid and needed a double. I got the new one free from my sister. It is really light and has very little rolling resistance. Down side - close to no storage. Pulls a little to the left with no further adjustment possible. - I hav put another 8 or 900 on this. My sister put 500 or more on it. She got it from a marathoner who bought it new - so this thing has about 2500 miles on it. It needs new tires.

Anything you can get second hand is great.

I know a lot of people who have had wheel problems with the baby trend strollers.  I have a Jeep, as does my sister-in-law and although they are different models we haven't had any issues.  They are also less expensive then the Bob.

Before spending a bunch of money is there anyone you can borrow one from for a few weeks to see if your kid (or wife) likes being in it? My first some enjoyed the jogger but had to be constantly entertained (or he would cry, which meant an unpleasant run). I would take him on trails, point out all kinds of stuff, etc. to keep him happy. It was pretty high maintenance for me and I didn't do it nearly enough to justify an expensive jogger. My second son just liked to chill in there and it worked much better. Now I have a bike trailer which I never use because #1 (5 yrs old) is on his own bike, which makes #2 (3 yrs old) not want to be in the trailer because he wants to be riding too!

Also, see how you/wife like jogging with it. Personally, I did it because it was my only choice but really didn't like running with a jogger at all. Again, personal choice but before dropping $$ on it, might be worth trying to borrow one.

Whatever kind you get make sure of two things (I speak from experience).
1) the front wheel must have a lock/swivel option or else you wil find it hard to get around when just walking, malls, whatever
2) Make sure the tires are inflatable and that you leave them slightly UNDER inflated.  Unless you live in the only city in america with crackless roads/ sidewalks, baby gets bounced around.  Underinflating the tires will cushion some of the shock.
 OK 3) USE THE TEATHER!

As mom of 2 with three "jogging" strollers, I see the following as really good features to have:
Solid (hard) seat back (have seen some that do not and the baby gets smunched in the bottom and is not comfy), Car seat attachment so you can run before they can sit up, Parking brake, lockable front wheel (to keep it from swiveling), reclining.
It is nice if they can be used a bike trailers too (see the Chariot, fixed front week though), the swivel front wheel is nice when not running.
A double is pretty big but if you are going to have 2 or more kids (or 1 kid and 1 lazy pet dog) it is nice and I would recommend one with two separate seats (a semi wall inbetween the kids to keep the pease) vs one big sitting area with 2 seatbelts.
As for changing your mechanics, I found I don't get to swing my arms as much as I would like to.  The run does feel much easier when you run without it and therefore could be a good training tool too.

My daughter's Chariot Cougar 1 is AWESOME! We have the fixed wheel for use as a running stroller and the bike trailer arm. We also got the retractable stroller wheels that you can use for just walking around.

You'll pay for it, but it's better than cluttering the garage with a stroller and a trailer...

Thanks for the awesome advice everyone.

I think we're leaning towards the bob revolution.  Just have to check if it has the car seat adapter.
