I'm in!

This will be my third IM, first time at LP.  My family and I will be flying in from Japan to visit with all of our family and friends as it will be the half-way point of our tour in Okinawa.

Goals?  I'm thinking 8-17 hours tops.

As far as questions go, none so far but it's early.   Thanks for asking.

Me, too.

1. First IM

2.  Volunteered this year to sign up earlier.

3.  Goal is to finish before sunset.  How much daylight remains will depend on how disciplined I am this year.

4.  No questions yet.

I'm in! It's my first IM!
I volunteered this year to sign up and my goal is to finish smiling
I will be training on the course a couple of times this fall and spring. I am hoping they announce any course change asap if there is any change. It's about a two hour drive from home- Essex VT (near Burlington).

OK Ironman USA people. Who the heck is in for IMLP 2010???

Why don't we start off with a few questions...

1. Is this your first IM?
2. Have you done LP before?
3. What are your goals for the 2010 race?
4. Do you have any specific questions that you wish addressed about LP (the race, training etc)

This will be my 3rd IMLP for me and I really enjoyed my first 2. In fact LP this year was better and there was more excitement leading up to it than last year.
My goal is to improve my overall time from last year. More specifically to avoid injury in training and to run a better marathon.

Who's next?

I'm in. It will be my 2nd IM, WI will be my first in 34 days. I have trained on the LP course so I'm really excited to race there. As far as goals, it's way too early to be specific, I'm literally setting my WI goals right now. But I know I want to do better than IMWI and that shouldn't be a problem at all. I'll likely want to see a major bike improvement as I got off to a slow start this year due to injury.

I didn't get to train on the run course at all - how is it? Any specifics to think about? The run is my strength and I'm curious to see how I do in IMWI before thinking about an approach for LP.

I'm in.  If I make it through IMC at the end of the month, IMLP 2010 would be my 5th IM.  I did LP one other time, in 2002, it was my very first IM.  I don't have a specific goal for the race yet, but my goal at this point is to try once again to fit the training puzzle piece in with family and work responsibilities.  God knows that is not easy.  I am also hoping to meet some new friend(s) and/or people to train with before the race, that is one reason why I joined here not too long ago.  It seems a more featured and organized website than the others out there.  I would also be interested in participating in a training camp in LP.. I am about 6 hours away in central NJ, and would like to get up there a few times to swim/ride/run the course.  Thanks for starting this thread..I was wondering when it would be posted!

I'm in.

1st IM.

Goal will most likely be under 11 hours.  How far under 11 will depend on how training mixes with family and work.

1. Is this your first IM?  Yup... I'm an Ironman Virgin
2. Have you done LP before?  See answer 1.
3. What are your goals for the 2010 race?  To beat Hillary Biscay.  Seriously, sub 12 sub 11:30
4. Do you have any specific questions that you wish addressed about LP (the race, training etc  Does anyone have the actual elevation chart for the Bike and Run?  Mirror Lake, I would assume is just that: smooth like glass -- zero chop?  What's the avg water temp?  How hilly is the run course?  Fred, will you autograph my finishers hat?!?

Oh, one more question: What should my training consist of?  Hills and more hills?

PennState - 2009-08-10 4:04 PM I will post the elevation profile of the bike course (I used a barometric altimeter... Garmin edge 305). But basically a rolling hills course. It is NOT as hilly as it is billed as. Seriously. Run course has 2 tough climbs on each loop. Bike pacing as in all ironman races is the key to this race. If you have never riden the course my advice would be to do it.

What about my other questions??  Mirror Lake is like glass -- zero chop?

On the run, after the two tough climbs are there equally steep descents?

Thanks Fred.  I just visited the IMUSA website and got a lot of info as well.  I'll definitely be doing a training camp up there in June.

Yeah, Hillary did not have a good day.

Here's the bike elevation profile. I'm terrible on hills and I enjoyed training on it this summer:

Oh I thought this was going to be your 2nd LP ?

Well, if I happen to have registered, then yes, that's correct, it would be my 2nd.  I'll answer the questions just for fun.

1. Is this your first IM?
Nope!  If I race, it will be my 2nd!

2. Have you done LP before?
Yep, 2009.  And I blew my expectations out of the water.  Most fun I have ever had in this sport.

3. What are your goals for the 2010 race?
If I were to do LP 2010, my goals would probably be the same.  Finish & finish happy!

4. Do you have any specific questions that you wish addressed about LP (the race, training etc
Nope!  But I have advice for the first timers.  Get a plan or a coach that is a good match for you and do the work.  The small workouts are NOT filler workouts.  They matter.  Don't cut corners or sell yourself short on your training.  IM is the total sum of all your fitness, that means everything counts.  Get a solid race plan and then stick to the plan...and you will have the race of your life.

I would love to get up to train once this fall.  Then probably twice in the spring.  I am planning to go to JorgeM's training camp in LP June 17-20.

But of course, that is just b/c I love training in LP and love training with Jorge...not necessarily b/c I'm racing....

Goals:

2-follow the plan, only changing it if necessary
3-when pain sets in, push through it
4-have fun

questions:

for non virgins out there....what were your peak training weeks (hours) and how many times did you hit that?
