Subject: Love/Hate relationship with Gatorade..Need help!
I'm doing my firm full Iron in 5 weeks. I've found that after 13 miles or so of running I start getting severe GI distress from Gatorade. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there something I can take to stop making my stomach hurting so much from all the Gatorade?  I need help fast othrwise I may be walking the last half of the run and that is no fun!

Try other replacement options, such as powdered mixes. They have a different sugar (not HFCS) - might help??? Or supplement with tablets and Gatorade at different intervals. Have you tried increasing your water vs. Gatorade?

Don't drink it?

Really, why do you NEED to drink it?

Why not plan for gels and water on the run portion? How do gels settle with you?

That's all I did and it worked fine. And I was able to put gels in my run special needs bags so I didn't have to carry enough for all 26.2 miles... just 13.1 miles.

I have GI issues with BOTH Gatorade and Powerade.  I switched to GU2O and don't have any stomach issues.  Only problem is that now whenever I do longer races I have to carry my own fluids, which gets a little annoying at times.  But...it beats dealing with GI issues during a race.  I have tried to get by with just water and gels but always at some point I crave something sweet to drink.  So I carry my own bottle

I'll try the Gu2O, Both Powerade and Gatorade do the same thing to me. Gels are worse, had to stop those years ago......My stomach starts cramping so bad I can not even run...Unless I am sprinting to the porto potties....Thanks for the info!

I have replaced my Gator-Gut issues with e-load.  You can buy it powdered  I pre-measure it and add it to the water they give you so I don't have to carry loads of liquid on long runs.  It is way easier on my guts!

That said, however, I am trying to get my stomach "used to" gatorade by drinking it  while training these past few weeks in an effort to simplify my Ironman Wisconsin plan.  (They only hand out Gatorade)  It's not really working so far, but I don't mind that I"ve lost 5 pounds trying.  Has anyone out there had success getting their stomach used to Gatorade or should I give up?

My gastric problems with Gatorade Endurance seem to be getting worse recently. I have just bought some Infinit to see how I react to that. Using Coke on the last half of the run has saved me a couple of times. In Canada regular Gatorade is still being used instead of GEF, and I don't seem to have the same issues with regular Gatorade.

I use the Infinit Marathon blend HOWEVER, I adjust the slider to take out all the protein and cap my calores at 200 perhr. Much tougher to take in calories while running. I took out the protein to eliminate the foam effect.

Frutose is the toughest of the sugars to digest and Store bought Gatorade is loaded with it. G-endurance is a better alternative.

Hammer Gels are generally one of the easiest to digest as well....you might try those. I can't stomach gels so I don't have a lot of experience with them.

I've been using Heed, which I have no problems with, but am going to try and use Gatorade for most of my long training runs/rides to see how I handle it.

I know this, I can never eat another GU gel again...Hammer gel is the way to go. That Apple Cinnamon gel is the bomb!

Try diluting the gatorade, that works for me.

I actually water down the Gatorade I drink, I do about a 60/40 (Gatorade/water) mix if I buy a bottle of it.  Otherwise I use the powdered and use the amount they suggest for 12 oz in about 20oz of water.
