Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() just curious if you all think my fit is ok, i been riding for a bit and i think my seat either went down a little or something doesn't seem 100% to my previous fit. take a look at the pics and let me know if you all think this looks ok....they are not the greatest of pics my gf had a hard time with the camera and it was getting little darker. Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've measured the angles for you. The hip angle and the knee angle look good. The shoulder/arm angle I'm not sure about. I was guessing as to where to measure at your shoulder. Your back does look rounded. I also gave you a new helmet. ![]() (fit4 Trix 8-09a angles measured (Medium).JPG) Attachments ---------------- fit4 Trix 8-09a angles measured (Medium).JPG (74KB - 0 downloads) |

To get a flatter back, wouldn't your stem need to be shorter? Then again, I have no clue when I'm talking about when it comes to bike fit. I just wanted to respond because Ken cracked me up with the measurements and helmet. ![]() |

You don't like the helmet? Have you had a fit from a bike shop that's used to tri bikes? If so, I would talk to them first. First impression: 1. remove 1 or 2 spacers. 2. rotate your hips clockwise a little 3. this may cause you to need to adjust aero bar pads position or stem length. Mark your original fit before moving anything. |

New user![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() i think your fit looks pretty darn good, i would just take a couple of spacers out from under the handlebars, they look to be almost parellel to your saddle. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() thanks, i might take a pic with an actual jersey it might give a better view of my shoulders and teach my gf how to take a photo. btw what program do you use to create the little angles like that, its so awsome. thanks again for the reponses. 1) yes I had a fit on the bike originally when purchased about 8 months ago. 2) since then only adjustments done were by me and its only the seat really. i would like to learn to do the fit myself but don't know where to start. i am gonna ask about the spacers. |

Coach ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() newbz - 2009-08-13 11:09 AM have you read some of A Coggan or T Anhalt posts about that? You might be giving away some power if your seat is indeed too high even though it might be comfortable for you because you are limiting the ability to engage all muscles legs primarily quads, hamstrings and glutes and instead place more stress on smaller muscles like hip flexors/calves, hence less power. Just a thought...JorgeM - 2009-08-13 9:48 AM IMO your seat is a tad too high but it would be better to see you pedalling good thing you have not seen my seat height. and to the OP head injuries happen with and without cars. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Drop the saddle a 1/8" to 1/4" and slide the aero bars forward 1/4" to 1/2". Your knees are almost to the point of lock and your arms could stand to go forward a hair more. |

I will go with the current fit to a race on sunday, but before my olympic i might go and adjust things. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() PennState - 2009-08-13 11:46 AM You fit is quite un-aggressive... is that what you were aiming for? I was thinking the same thing, purely visual and not scientific at all. I don't even have a Tri bike and rock a roadie with clip-ons, but you don't look that aero to me in that position. edit: with the helmet, it looks much better though. Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Only my opinion, of course, but: Seat angle looks very slack, saddle looks a little high, hip angle looks too open, and you're too stretched out. Take a look at the pros in this ST gallery: http://www.slowtwitch.com/photos/Detailed/25.html Granted, they're pros, so you probably won't be positioned as aggressively as they are. However, if you look at their arms, you'll see the upper arms of almost all of them is very close to perpendicular. This lets the bones support the upper body rather than the muscles. It's also a compact, powerful position. The two exceptions are Faris Al-Sultan and James Bonney and the comments for their photos call them out for being stretched. Lower the seat, slide it forward (use the forward position on the seat post), remove some spacers, and maybe even use a shorter stem. Edit: Again, my opinion, but whatever you do, DON'T move your arms even further forward. Edited by dgunthert 2009-08-13 1:42 PM |

Sigh, I need a new bike... |
